One of the biggest challenges of visiting every country in the world is GETTING VISAS.

Yes, even as a U.S. passport holder (one of the strongest in the world), I'm still spening countless hours, days, weeks, and months of my life figuring out how to get approval to visit dozens of countries.

In today's video, find out which are the 5 hardest visas I've had to get around the world (watch until the end to find out which one cost me $3,000 USD!!!)

Which visas have you found to be the hardest to get? Every passport has different requirements for every country (and they often change), so I'd love to hear some of your struggles!

I'm sorry, but I expoloded in laughter when you said you had to write down all the countries you visited in the past 5 years 😂
  • As a Nepali citizen, the most difficult and expensive visa was to the Netherlands. I needed visa to defend my PhD after four years of working at a Dutch university. I was in Mexico, my options were either to go to Delhi or US (I had valid US residency). Took me three weeks and more than 2500 Euros with all the flights and expenses (I crashed with family in the US). My application was 70 pages long and it was a rather stressful and humiliating process. Never again. Luckily, the PhD project paid for this, which I am thankful for. If a Dutch person wants to come to Nepal, they get visa on arrival for less than 50 Euros. Let’s talk inequalities!

The title should be: world hardest visas for americans.
  • My poor country Uganda 🇺🇬, is a visa free country. It welcomes everyone. Whether you are a rebel, or a normal person, u just enter the country any how. But when it comes to us Ugandans, all the other countries visas are hard for us to get.
  • @ameliarene
I’m very impressed how respectful u speak about all these challenges

I am a Bangladeshi citizen who has been to 50+ countries. What you described for 4/5 countries was my experience with almost every Visa I had to get 😂. Honduras was the most interesting one as they hadn't issued tourist visas in a while (I was in the Los Angeles consulate) and I had to go to their embassy on 6 different days and spend 20-30 hours total at the embassy waiting room, often working from my laptop in there hahaha. Very nice people but very disorganized embassy

I’ve been to Iran 6 times as an independent traveler (no organized tour!) and once to Syria - Visas weren’t hard to get at all, but that’s because I’m Australian, not American!

I hold a Colombian passport, so no, I don't feel related, I get denied to so many countries, and the times I've traveled they always question me, and its happened three times already that officers ask me to follow them to an office where I've had to wait for an hour or so to question me in regards of my visit to their country :) so much fun...
  • The hardest visas to get: US UK EU Thank you for coming to my ted talk (Edit: I live in a developing country which is why these are hard to get)
  • @voodooguy2
The first time I applied for a US tourist visa, I was rejected. Undeterred, I re-applied and over the course of many years eventually became a US citizen; so never give up on visa issues.

As an Indonesian passport holder, I find it difficult to obtain a visa from a foreign country. But despite the visa difficulties, I was lucky. So far, I have visited 55 countries.
