Which is THE BEST DE BLADE?

Published 2022-09-09
Many have doubts about the best blades available on the market and as many videos on this regard. So here I wanted to go through many I have already used.

First of all: - Test as many slides as possible. See the one that is most comfortable for you and best for your face. There is no single blade that is best for everyone. You need to understand that the type of shaver, soap, brush, as well as the type of beard and skin influence. Including the beard routines or even the pressure and strength that is used when shaving. In addition, each shaver also has a different angle and aggressiveness.

I hope I have helped.

----- About the channel
I'm André. My main channel is actually in Portuguese, called Barba Tradicional. But since I do create some content in English sometimes I decided to upload that also here.
Many people have sensitive skin and/or suffer from ingrown hairs, irritation or have difficulty shaving difficult areas. Since 2017 I have retired the multi-blade cartridge and electric shavers, switching to traditional shaving. The results are astounding! Of course, it requires learning some tricks and tricks, after all it's easier to cut yourself (it's more efficient!). But it's worth a try! Here I help answer some questions and how to have a barbershop-worthy shave: How to shave? How to avoid irritation and ingrown hair? What is the best shaver? How to shave with a razor? How to choose the shaver? What care and attention when shaving?
I hope that with the tips on this channel you will have a shave without irritation or ingrown hairs. Above all it is a cheaper and more sustainable way to shave!

My current favorite is the BIC blade, which is often overlooked. It is as sharp as the Feather, but smoother and more durable.

my unpopular opinion is that blades in razors are like batteries in remotes. it doesn’t matter unless they’re flat/blunt. it’s the razor & the shavers technique that make up most of the shaves performance. your father, grandfather, great grandfather etc. all shaved with whatever blade they could get their hands on. they didn’t have the luxury of ordering 30 brands world wide for optimal performance in their $200 titanium razor. don’t be a drama queen. just perfect your technique. that’s what’s most important

Dorco ST300 Platinum is my favorite. Feather is crazy sharp, Derby was the blade I used to learn on as it was mild. Astra Superior Platinum I use when I run out of Dorco.

Great video. I bought a large sample pack and ended up using SHARK super chrome blades with my Rockwell 6S. I thought my choice would be Feather or Astra after watching safety razor vids but Shark worked the best for me and my setup / technique.

Astra and perma sharp was turkish companies before they were bought by gillette usa. Their qualities were very good.

Thanks for an interesting review, I'm new to DE Safety shaving and have just bought myself a trial pack of blades to try; so far my favourite is the Wilkinson Sword!

Great video i personally have been using Astra for over 15 years and never had a reason to change, perfectly smooth shave and extremely sharp.
  • Many thanks for a very interesting survey of a wide range of blades. I have tried a few but not all on your list. I will look out for some of your favourites and see how they work for me.

so interesting how varying everyones usage is with certain blades. my absolute favorite blade i never even see on peoples list. parker premium platinum is my go to razor blade. it gives me the closest yet most comfortable shave ever. feather is a tad harsh for me, still use them but definitely more harsh. parker is so incredibly smooth and just delivers a fantastic shave every time. in fact, tonight when i shaved with my parker blade it was such a good shave i just stopped after two passes, didnt even need a third. my goodness its a marvelous razor blade i absolutely love it. very reasonably priced as well i think $12 for 100? great video :)

Several months into wet shaving, I decided to try a sample pack of blades based on what I had learned from various shaving channels. To eliminate one variable, I only shaved with my favorite DE safety razor, the Rockwell 6S. After trying all the blades, my favorites narrowed down to Nacet, Astra Green, and Wilkinson Sword (India). IMO, what makes one razor blade "better" than another is skin and hair type, assuming we all do proper prep and use quality products. I do agree that there is no such thing as a "best" blade. Some just perform better than others.
  • My favorites are Feather, Rapira Platinum Lux, and Perma-Sharp. Two that I’ve never tried which I would like to try are Kai and Polsilver/Wizamet Iridium
  • @unclelshaves
Great discussion on best blades. Like you said I find blades are the most YMMV part of shaving. My favorite blades are Wizamet Iridium (very similar to Polsilver), Nacet, Rapira Lux, Dorco Prime and Gillette Winner Platinum (India), there many other "also ran" blades that shave well and bottom of my list are Rockwell, Merkur, Parker, German&Chinese Wilks and Perma-Sharp (surprise?)...👍🤠
  • What a great Video. Thanks Andre, I enjoyed this one and it's a good idea. I'll be using my notebook and making more of my own notes 😁 Cheers.
  • hi man. thank you for the video so informative i am suprised you don't like the green astras. it might be a factor if as you mentiond they aren't as sharp as others but to my skin are gentler you brought my attention to Gillette Nacets I haven't used for a bit and I have them. i will try to play with them soon so you absolute favourites are on the far right how much do they cost at your place? I haven't seen any of the ones on the far right and wonder if they don't come to the side of the world where I am
  • @juanmosey
Astra SP is a very good. The Toyota Corolla of blades. BTW how are the Super Thins?
  • So many things come into play here for a mans face skin type hair type ect...could be the shaver if you have a adjustable Gillette ect.. find what # is best for your face Cant really say what is a bad razor blade or what is best one it is all about the shaving face control. also the pressure on your face can make a bad shave or a great shaving experience . find what works for your face on the # you got your shaver on ect. to many factors to say what is a bad or what is a good razor blade. To many people shave and want to be done in 1 min a Wet shave should be done with grace and no time limit and you should have a fantastic BBS No mater what Razor you use . TAKE YOUR TIME It is a man's moment between you and your face . Enjoy your Wet shaving moment. 💈
