I love this post! Just for the record, this is actually not exactly what's occurring in Supersonic - but it still sounds cool! Also, I can see/hear where you're coming from and I feel like your sound is super close!!! Cher boi Skrill is using Freq Modulation to create harmony with the Major 3rd intervals throughout the drop section. So what you're referring to a 'mosquito lead' is actually the Freq Mod added to the 'fat saw bass' ; thus, creating that smooth yet crispy modulation. This would also be resampled or flattened to create the different layers for the mix session. The difference between your recreation and Skrillex's is easy to hear when A/Bing both versions (yours and Skrillex's) on professional studio equipment (monitors, sub, audio interface, acoustic room dimensions/treatments). Your recreation sounds really cool though, just listen closely and you can tell there's almost no movement /evolution/modulation heard in the saturation throughout the freq spectrum during the drop. Pay super close attention to the FM synthesis and the movement of what we're both now referring to as 'the mosquito sound' in Skrillex's track. You'll most likely be able to hear it if you have access to good speakers or a pro studio setup. All that being said, cool video man! Keep it up!

The way you explained this is exactly how my brain worked for 10 years in FLS, I know it's supposed to be a bit funny but holy shit I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks like this 😂
-
