I am glad she is having fun and tries hard! Hard work from experience will produce the most results. There are too many so called "Critical experts" that think they know everything about the sport related to kids growth. The few things I have learned about being successful at any sport. 1. Hard work beats talent when talent isn't working. 2. Mental - you have to love to play and stay driven. If you lose either one, it will be very hard to be successful to adulthood. 3. Don't get injured, it will stop anyone! Concussions are the worst to come back from. They can operate on a knee and bring it back pretty quickly. The brain does not repair so easily. 4. The kids that were the best in the youngest years and the "daisy pickers" will balance out. Meaning, just because that kid was Messi/Mia or Ronaldo early on, doesn't mean they will always be. Go back to the statements 1-3. Not saying it is not possible to stay on top, I am just saying they will rarely crush in the high-school age group. I have also learned, that elite coaches doesn't "seem" to like individual skills or they are always trying to change your style. But with all of this said, I want your kid to be successful! By the age of 12-13 a large percent of girls have dropped out of soccer. Check out my daughter from many years ago. She is 19 now and has played high-school, elite teams, traveled etc. During this time she has had Major concussions, broken knees, broken back and is always in pain today. She has scored several hundred goals and towards the end lost her nerve as a striker and switched to defense and started to thrive again. Which again goes back to mental. It all ended in the 10th grade with the major concussion that took over a year to heal. She went from straight A's to C/D student. Today she is doing good in college, but it took a long road back. I know me writing this is more than you wanted to hear, but I thought at least awareness. Most of all her teammates today has not played past high-school. Any scholarships that were awarded through academics. These are girls that traveled the entire country and stopped playing after high-school. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyRO0qOAZsU&lc=z233et25symvcvk02acdp431o3ufhojx4gvljvszepdw03c010c

This video was shot when she just turn 4. FOUR years old. And one game this spring when she was 4 and a half. SHe does has a lot to learn and eager to do it . But if you consider she was playing with and against the kids who are 5 or 6, she is way to advanced for most of them. She is very tall, so don't let that trick you. On the same token, your four year old was singing wheels on the bus. Was that learned in moms kitchen?

I was watching a U-7 or U-8 kid last week do five nice slide tackles. It came so naturally for him. I commented to his mother who seemed to be anticipating that his great tackles were going to get him in trouble. That kid I saw is going to be a great midfield-destroyer...hope he picks up some other skills or habits to help round him out as a player.
