All Ahead with Summer Heat in Texas; Keeping an eye on the Tropics

We are beginning to pay more attention to the tropics. Over the weekend, one weak tropical disturbance will move into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. That system may bring a few showers to Deep South Texas and the Rio Grande Valley, but like the last blob, it will move into Mexico.
A more formidable tropical blob is way out in the open Atlantic, several hundred miles east of the Leeward Islands. That blob is likely to become Tropical Storm Beryl soon. It is moving west toward the Caribbean and could become a hurricane by next week. We’re a bit early in the season for these ‘long-trackers’, but hey – it is 2024. Where that system goes from the Caribbean is still questionable, but if it made it into the Gulf of Mexico, it wouldn’t be for another eight to nine days. We’ll keep an eye on it.
