“Australia… interesting…” 😂 Yes, we’re not meant to be there, but we make such a big deal about the event that they now let us compete in it.
  • “We didn’t realise it was going to be so political” WELCOME TO EUROVISION 😂
  • @EEmB
Russia 2012 (the old ladies) was SUCH a huge hit that year, it was one of the songs of the summer on the dance floor. For real!

Politics and 'neighborly voting' in Eurovision may prevent a country from getting zero points, or last, or even get them a 1 or 2 places higher than they should, but it wouldn't be enough to get the win. Even in 2022, Ukraine has had an amazing track record of great good songs with great stagings, and this year is no different. The outpouring of support most likely secured them the trophy this year, but it is still a winning song regardless of the war.

Sam Ryder is amazing!!! You guys need to watch that entire song. The clip didn’t do him justice,at all.

1983 was actually a song tribute to the Jewish population killed by the Nazi's during world war two, it may seem like a fun song (which it should seem like) but if you search up the backstory, it's very interesting. The song contest was in Germany that year, so it was only fitting to go up there and sing a song saying: I'm alive. I'm pretty sure they had some type of symbol in their outfits (maybe even the outfits themselves) for the yellow star the jews were forced to have back then to identify them from the rest. Anyways, hope you see this as it could explain some things about the political nature of Eurovision to you, and please react to more Eurovision content, keep it up

Sam got us to second place for the first time in YEARS so yes he was the best we had.....and considering he started by making videos on tik tok through lockdown all the way to the eurovision stage 👏
  • @swanpride
Your "nightmare inducing" act was sung by Katja Ebstein, who is a German music legend, and this song is still very popular. She actually placed third in Eurovision on two other occasions.

2009 Norway blew it out of the water. They got the most points under the old point system making that 169 even more wild. I still remember the song " I'm in love with a fairytale even though it hurts, because I don't care if I lose my mind I'm already cursed" cue violin

For the Dutch duo in 2014 that you said the woman could make it in Nashville; She is Ilse de Lange. A Dutch country singer that actually played in the Nashville TV Show not too long ago haha

Yes, "Eres tú" by Mocedades of Spain is the song of the movie you mentioned. It had a great success in the US (and worldwide) back in 1973 and they sold more than 1 million copies of it just there. They are legends in the hispanic world.
  • @emery5483
weirdly enough my favourite eurovision performance has gotta be that time in 2016 they brought back a bunch of previous winners to do a parody song during the intermission. it's called "love love peace peace", would love to see your reaction to that one lol
  • @mkitten13
2003 - that was my favourite song that year, I really loved it! 2009 - the winning song just set a major points record, which was held until they next changed up the points system 2012 - the Russian grandmothers were ADORABLE and we really loved them 2017 - another favourite of mine that got stuck in second place pouts 2021 - France went from the most French song ever to their least French song the following year (which was among my favourites, but sadly ended up at the bottom)
  • Alexander Rybak won in 2009. I think Daniel mentioned in the previous Eurovision reaction that he followed him on Instagram or You tube ☺️.
  • @Pakman500
Cliff Richard in 1968 lost by just one point to Spain. In 1969 however there were 4 joint winners so for this list there was no runner up, cause as you say they actually only came 5th. So far the UK has come 2nd 16 times
  • @SJ19_998
The Sam Ryder disrespect 😂😂, he is truly amazing, you should absolutely listen to his cover compilations or even that song in full, he's so good.
  • The Dutch singers from 2014 Common Linnets are Ilse De Lange and Waylon (named himself after Waylon Jennings). Ilse is a familiar face in Nashville and has recorded several albums there.
