"there's lots of things you expect in war. carnage, sleepless nights..but what they don't prepare you for, is the incessant use of Fortunate Son."
  • My grandather served in Vietnam, tank mechanic, till the day he passed, he loved this song, it was the only thing he could fondly remember about that time in his life.

“The worst part of the war wasn’t the heat or the constant enemy ambushes, it was fortunate son playing non stop day and night”

Can't believe they made a war for this song

For those wondering if it wasn't obvious already, this song is talking about how a lot of teens were drafted to Vietnam without volunteering but rich/politician families' kids didn't have to.

My uncles (Marshall & Bobby) were drafted in the late 1960’s. May they rest in peace.

My uncle served in the United States Marine Corp. He contracted tuberculosis. When he came home from his tour of duty. They put him in Veteran's hospital and removed half of his lung.He was placed on an entire tank of oxygen everyday up until he died.I salute him.🇺🇲

Excellent video for a timeless song. One of the absolute worst wars in world history. Millions of prayers for every service person who was there as well as their families and friends. They will NEVER be forgotten. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I grew up listening to CCR. The song came on one day as my daughter and her husband were outside. Her husband went to change it. She said, no don't. That"s my dad's music. As a child I would have nothing but 60's and 70's music. I love every thing from rock to country, ballads many things. My daughter even recognizes Johnny Cash, Buck Owens. Hope she shows her kids one day. It's the greatest music.

Only war in history that comes with the soundtrack.

My grandpa always used to tell me about his experience in Vietnam in the 60's: he was an UH-1iroquois pilot. Now he's 80 and he's a beautiful granpa. Respect to all his friends who didn't make it ♥️
