  • Awesome to see you continuing with a straight razor! You definitely seem more comfortable compared to last time. You want that lather as hydrated as possible. When you think you’ve added enough water, add just a hint more. You’re right about the feel of the blade being an attraction. It takes shaving to a whole other level. Great video!
  • Man you did great with the straight razor you're a natural my friend!
  • @MullyShaves
Thanks for the shout on the merch. Love that towel too. The other end is even better. :+). Seriously though, thanks, Bary.
  • I’ve been enjoying my straight razor. I’m about a week in with it and just bought a second razor. My technique gets better every day. You are correct Bary, the feel is cool shaving with a straight.
  • ❤❤❤ I have to admit that now that I'm not making videos, I only shave straight!

It is always a bold move to video those early straight shaves. Welcome to The Dark Side. 😎 Nice.
  • Bary, Great shave. I'm with you time is an issues with straight razors. That's why for me it's #straightrazorsaturday !!! I PM'd you a link for an excellent resource. This guy is one of my "sensei"s in straight razor shaving. Have a great day and smooth shaves

I'll become a straight razor shaver in my second life. I value this life a lot. I am loving my AC razor though. I just bought a second one and can't wait to get it. Great video my friend. -Kevin
  • I am glad to see you are still practicing your sr shaves. Good work man. Just some helpful suggestions from watching, stretching your face with your facial muscles is just as helpful as with your other hand. But It is better if you stretch the skin away from the blade edge. You are more prone get yourself when the skin bunches up in front of the blade. A few of your passes you bunched your skin towards your stoke. But later you did better with your stretching. Try also not to go over spots you have no soap on, you can get that razor burn when you do that or worse. Good call stopping when you do not feel comfortable with the stroke. It takes time and practice, so do not feel like you need to rush things. Skill is developed, not born. Keep it up! You are doing great!! Thanks for sharing.

Great shave Bary, you'll get even better with more practice. I still avoid going across in my neck cause of the loose skin. It's more uncomfortable cause of the handle, but I'm sure with dedication, we find a way. I haven't used it in a while, so I might be rusty 😂
  • Two things I told my self I’m not going to get into when I started traditional wet shaving. No 1. I will not collect shaving brushes, 1 or 2 is enough. No.2 I will not get into straight razors and shavettes. I ended up getting obsessed with both😂. Nice shave sir! 🇵🇭
  • Great! That was a jump from the first one, so I think you're on your way. I have a nerve disease and also from years of working with my hands, my fine motor skills are bad and I have a hard time using western style straights. Most of my shavettes are kamisoris and I took to those very quickly. It's a more natural feel for me anyway. I think a lot of the learning is figuring out what works for you and mapping out your shave pattern. It's also putting together all the little things like skin stretching , the stroke, moving to the next location. Now you understand why you use a wet lather-lol! At some point I will make one of my straights into a kamisori and make a sheath that matches the handle. I don't think I've seen one done before, but it would be as easy as making a western style razor with scales. Take care!

Amazing shave Bary! You are picking this up very quickly. Lather looked good. The razor didn’t seem to stick any so that good! As far as direction. Just do what you feel confident and comfortable with. I never go across the grain on my neck. It’s just too hard with that long blade. I do on my cheeks, but never on my neck. I find going against the grain on my neck is the money pass. Sometimes I do that twice. You’ll figure out what does and doesn’t work for you. Keep it up!!
  • @BigEShaves
Barry, you operate like an old pro, great work you’re a natural. I just tried some bear tallow, good stuff. Love that brush, very classy. You’re now blooded in, only way out is to blood out, and you don’t want that. Jump in the Rabbit hole, there is plenty of room.

Well done, I keep a straight razor shave to the weekend when I have time. You need a really wet lather. I find the difficult part is top lip, and the chin turn. I still use a DE razor to finish up. The first few times my cheeks were extremely tender from the closeness of the shave.
