The risk of heart attack increases with age.Gender is also a risk factor. Men have a higher risk of heart attack than women and also tend to have heart attacks earlier in life. However, women have a greater chance of dying from a heart attack.

Going outside and interacting with family members, both increase my stress.
  • Family has given me so much stress I had 2 heart attacks in 3 years . They busted me financially in business and left me broke .. just when I was ready to retire . When you can only sleep 2 hours a night wondering how you are going to live .. you are killing yourself

Reduce stress - quit my job so I don't have to deal with obnoxious, stress causing customers. But then have the stress of not being able to pay my mortgage

Not that Dr. Mike is wrong, but I would like to input something here. I am a 57 year old male. No family history of heart disease. Very active healthy lifestyle at 168 lbs. My triglycerides are 52. My HDL is 47 My LDL is 128 These were my numbers 1 week ago...taken right after I had a heart attack. So, if you think you're exempt for whatever reason, you're fooling yourself.

Want to improve your cholesterol...the cholesterol that matters, say goodbye to sugar, high fructose corn syrup, refined processed foods, and omega-6 rich seed oils. Instead, eat real food. Meat, cheese, eggs, fish, chicken, seeds, nuts, veggies, butter, cheese, avocado, mushrooms. Try to avoid starchy foods that metabolize quickly in the liver like potatoes, rice, peas, corn, pasta, breads. If you do choose to have a starchy food with your dinner, make sure to eat a salad or something with a high fiber content before you eat it. The result will be a much slower and controlled digestion and a smoother and more controlled absorption of the starch and a slower more even release of glucose into the blood. A good example is Pizza night! Everyone loves pizza, including me. Eat a hearty bowl of salad before your first slice. You'll devour less pizza, but more importantly, the pizza you do consume will be greatly slowed in it's digestion by the fiber in the salad greens.

Solid Advice. I had a triple heart bypass 8 years ago from doing exactly the opposite of the above advice for decades. I'm on point since the operation with nearly all of your recommendations and probably even bettering some areas. I like that you reconize that its a packaged deal. Most plant based doctors only deal with just diet. As you point out, theres a lot more to it than that. There is your mental health (stress), physical fitness, the social aspect and the destructive addictions like Smoking/Alcohol/Drug/other addictions. I think only Dr. Dean Ornish comes close to addressing all these points every single time while guys like Essenstyn, Furhman, McDougall, Bernard, Klapper are all diet, diet, diet. You would not hear too much talk in the books of the renowned heart specialist Dr. Esselstyn about mental health (stress), exercise or destructive addictions or behaviours. That is very strange as heart disease is not all down to diet alone. I did as much serious damage in smoking about quarter of a million cigarettes as i did with my junk food eating.
  • I would like to see this kind of public health video being shown on social media outlets run by the individual NHS authorities here in the UK.
  • 0:39 “Age” is just as much of a risk factor for suffering heart attacks as it is for developing arterial hypertension. That is, highly dependent on lifestyle factors whose cumulative effects increase over time (that is, with “age”).
  • Turns out the Spike Protein damages the endothelial lining of the heart vessels. Shouldn't you have added that to your list?

I agree with all points apart from cholesterol as cholesterol has nothing to do with heart health this as been proven, and also people with higher cholesterol fight off infections quicker.

How do I prevent a SCAD heart attack? I had one 4 months ago. I have low cholesterol and low blood pressure. I’m in my early 40s and I love fitness and working out. Thank you for your advice.
  • Good habits lead to the best health..Dr Mike thanks again ⭐️

Just looking at the report sent by a cardiologist to my family doctor after a coronary angiogram. He states that HDL is now a relatively unreliable parameter, contrary to earlier long held assertions. The APOB level is now considered the most significant parameter.
