How divine a sound! If only the meager microphone of my camera and the simple acoustics of my Czechoslovak gramophone could do justice to the beauty of this old record. Despite its age, listening to it in person is almost like breathing life back into these artists and hearing them sing and play their hearts out one more time. The final note of this piece, played on the organ, slowly vanishes back in time until the click of the gramophone switching off announces its return to whatever world it may have gone to. This is music, so powerful, that it has succeeded in piercing through time.

I'm playing that recording on a Czechoslovak Supraphon Supralion portable Gramophone from 1953. I'm looking into buying an electric turntable with which I'll do this 78 justice. I'm amazed by the sound quality of this album despite the metal horn out of which it emanates.

It's only now that I notice that at the end of the recording part of the turntable's mechanism scrapes against the metal covering of the motor. It affects the pitch slightly, but the music is still very enjoyable.
