We got our first look at an early version of EVE Vanguard, the extraction-style first-person shooter that aims to do for EVE Online what Dust 514 could not. Previewed by Leana Hafer.

Could be great as an alternative to certain wreck looting. Imagine whenever a supercapital got destroyed in Eve, you couldn't loot it like normal from space, but instead it created an instance in Vanguard for people to locate and loot certain components and/or rare modules. Would create incentives for corps to have branches in Vanguard and make the stakes very high in terms of real world value.

This game is incredibly hard to make but Im' happy to see them giving this a go. The concept is a dream of so many developers since the first Battlefield days.

Imagine a world where an EVE online captain can hire an EVE Vanguard pilot to extract so and so item for the captain so they can build something while lining the pilot's pocket or arsenal

Okay... Lets try this again. Hopefully it will stick now that it will be on PC and not a PS3 exclusive... that was a weird choice.

I've really wanted to see a couple of corporations go at it over a planet in a star system and while there is this huge space battle going on there is an equally massive 'Planetside' like battle going on on the ground. Of course the player count required to make this happen is insane though.

Looks nice, but not sure a squad based looter shooter in the style of Tarkov best represents the Eve mass battle experience that the brand is best known for.

Dust was shut down because it was a ps3 exclusive at the end of the generation. Vanguard is looking sweet.

This is pretty interesting since if its a module, it does mean it IS a separate game from EVE Online, as the latter is not a UE5 game, but it would be a gamemode attached to EVE Online and runs as a separate client. So in a sense you could play EVE Online and EVE Vanguard at the same time if you wanted to?
