She's like, the second conductor ever to take the repeat, respect
  • Of course the Frankfurt Radio Symphony performed magnificently and Maestra Marin Alsop conducted this amazing symphony brilliantly. All that goes without saying it. However, I wish to single out also for profuse praise the sound engineers, the videographers, and the video editors. The latter did an outstandingly intelligent job of cutting the tape to show players, section, and groups according the when & how they played. In my opinion, this was exceptionally unsurpassed, enormously moving and singularly enjoyable. Thanks so much, All!

I always come back to this version. What an incredible ending!

So many others already said it: this is The Best! I’m only asking myself why there are empty seats! I recommend to give away tickets to people who can’t afford them. Can you imagine the impact is has on a life in tough times, to hear this concert? Life changing!

I always enjoy hearing this orchestra play--they have an ensemble feel that is rather special. Ms. Alsop is a very experienced conductor and it shows; she always knew exactly where she was going in the piece. I've heard many renditions of this symphony, and this is one of the good ones.

This interpretation of the Brahms #2 was performed and conducted brilliantly--a genuine delight. It was also a pleasure to see the intimate views of the performers. Thanks to every one of you who had a hand in this very satisfying event!

The best female conductor is conducting the best orchestra in the world.

This symphony is like a sunrise in the morning, in the green and bright forest, it's a German romantic poetry in times, where no acceleration of life takes place. Brahms for me is near Bruckner one of the most genius romantic composers. His ideas depends on polyphonic structures and harmonisations, which were sensational during his lifetime. The 2nd Synphony formed the basic to become the most important composer in romantic music.

The conductor did an awesome job, the best I have ever seen! The music is sweet and flowing, smooth and delightful! This is all made possible by the conductor. Just excellent! Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed this so much.... USA

A wonderfully organic performance from Frankfurt. Maestro Alsop really brings this music to life and the orchestra respond with their very special feeling of ensemble. I first heard this symphony on LP over 50 years ago but this lovely performance reminded me of just how this was "new" music once and made me listen to it again with fresh ears. Very enjoyable.

Großartige Dirigentin mit phantastischem Sinn für das richtige Tempo, das Orchester fabelhaft präzise und voller Lust und Spaß daran, Mrs. Alsop zu folgen. So hat es Brahms gewünscht, denke ich.

This may be my favorite symphony post-Beethoven!
  • @charlescornner
Shame more people couldn't be there in person...but this is pretty freaking awesome.

I love the interplay between the oboes and flutes in the first movement. Perfection.
  • @tonyhunt9980
Saw Marin Alsop with the Halle Orchestra a while back and she seems to raise the standards of the musicians. Thanks for this. Greetings from theUK.
  • There is a motive that comes from his famous lullaby. His counterpoint is always the best. The beauty of this symphony is the capacity of Brahms to interwoven the themes with great mastery. I love Brahms.
