  • Thanks for the review, Mate!! I checked your's out just to make sure the software didn't have any virus or other software attached. Cheers!!

I heard the old Arkanoid music on your intro and immediately subscribed! :)

Thank very much for this video! The others that came close were for HDMI, not composite. I haven’t tested mine out: it’s identical to yours, but has no branded name. Hoping they work exactly as the branded for recording some Standard Definition gaming consoles, and hopefully get my VHS set of the REAL Star Wars (before special editions) stored digitally. I noticed you have the same “5.25 Media Dashboard” as I have. I haven’t installed mine yet- wondering if you have a video on these or just pros & cons/ works well or junk? Thank you very much! You’re a gentleman and a scholar!

I just got this. It transferred several short videos from VHS nicely. However, when I transferred an hour long video the sound wasn't synched with the video after the 7 minute point and the video became very jumpy at times. It took about 4 gb at the "best" video setting for this hour long segment. At one point in the long video it created a second video as I believed it reached its capacity for a single video. Nice piece of a equipment and software, but it seems to limited to videos of less than 10 minutes for my computer. Maybe a faster processor and more memory would allow it to work better.

I would suggest using either OBS or the Built in Windows Camera app (if you have upgraded from Windows 7 since this vid was published) to capture from this device instead of the provided software. On my device I noticed that stereo audio inputs get mixed down to mono when capturing from this device. Does yours have the same issue?

How do I convert VHS cassettes using this? I connect this to ny VCR but it won't display the content, goes straight to my laptop camera.
  • @lardhii
Can I use it to record a movie running on my LED TV, and save the movie on my laptop local hard drive?
  • My Vcp Players is god conditions But the is not capturing clearly when prees the record buttion audio is captiring but is Still one frame what is the problem

Thanks, had an thought that the software wasn't compatible with WIndows 10. Installed a WIndows 7 installation with the software and driver that came with the Easycap USB and it worked. For anyone else wondering, yes you can use regular RCA White / Red cables instead of an S Video yellow cable. The S video cable is thicker and thus is more isolated from noise, but assuming that your VHS is already in poor quality it shouldn't matter.

Ah cool. I might get it but I guess I'm going to have to dig out my old computer to use it. I'm using it to capture N64.
  • @jublywubly
Thanks for making this video. How'd you manage to get the software to recognise the device as an audio-video recorder? Using Windows 10, it only shows up as an audio device.
  • Please let me know how do I change the physical size of what I captured on the screen of the software. It's basically a big window with a smaller size of the image and the balance part is blank. Thank you
  • @kosstheboss5506
It doesn't work for me, the squares are empty. I press system, search .... and nothing...
  • @laulen9967
I'm using the unbranded version which is virtually the same. I'm trying to record a VHS tape to digital format.... I'm getting sound and a blue screen. Do I need a video lead plugged into something to get picture. Iv followed the installation but have no picture still and don't see the option in the settings. Can someone help. Kind regards.
  • Hi, I would like to know how to use the easy cap with a phone? know the difference between easier capture and easy cap and how and when to use the s audio in?
