How To Start A Fire With Fire Steel | Fort In The Woods | How to start a fire

Here's how we like to light a fire using a Ferro Rod! Compact and easy to pack Ferro Rods are great ways to carry a back up method of lighting a fire. Lighting a fire is a valuable skill to have. I said I would use the Glock Field knife but I switched it up and I used the Gerber multi tool, a good example that you are able to use most steels to create sparks from a Ferro Rod. • Can't believe I missed this video, very useful tutorial considering my knife came with a rod of it. Also, I have a video idea if you haven't done it already, a tutorial on making a pot hanger or some sort of cooking device for a campifire would be great!
  • This is not flint. This is a man made composite, ferrocerium. Flint is a volcanic type rock, that shaves a chunk of metal off the striker which chemically reacts with oxygen and heats up, the spark, yes a similar process as the ferro rod but so different. Please do some research.
