Back in the late 70s, I had developed bunions on each foot after wearing pointy shoes to work. I saw an orthopedic guy, and he gave me a “prescription” to take to a shoe repair person, in order to install a metatarsal bar across the sole (on the bottom) of my favorite shoes. It was magic. That bar spreads those joints where the toes meet the foot across the whole foot and immediately straightens the toes. The bar just needs to follow that line of joints, is about 1.5-2 inches wide and only about 1/8th of an inch thick. It cured mine very quickly and my feet felt so good wearing the shoes. Now I only wear Birkenstocks and have never had recurring problems. Hope that helps someone!!

I've had bunion surgery on both feet but now one of them has developed a new one. This was so helpful because I don't want to go through that again, at 80 years old.

I was born a club foot, left worse than the right. I went through the casts and braces as a baby, but babies grow up. Everyone thinks my feet are "fixed". They actually are just re-arranged. I wish I would have had these exercises 45 years ago. I did them as you explained them and could feel the pull. It was a good pull. I won't over do. I am going to try to strengthen my feet. Thank you so much!
  • Lots of great advice for bunions. Thanks for taking the time to be so comprehensive. Physiotherapists are so much more attentive. A tremendous amount more helpful information than my podiatrist offered. They just have the 10 minutes to look at your foot and provided the standard, protocol approved response that requires the least amount of dismissive effort.

I've had 3 bunion surgeries, the 1st when I was 29 and it came back! I had the 2nd in 2019 on the same foot before the pandemic along with a torn tibial tendon transfer and hind foot reconstruction in 2 surgeries 8 weeks apart. I had my other bunion on the other foot 13 months ago. The reason I had bunions so young is rheumatoid arthritis and hypermobile joints. I happen to live on private wooded acreage with steep long roads and I love walking here although my walk is considered a hike to most. My feet are much better since my surgeries and it wasn't much fun but I'm doing great now! Thanks for the videos and keep them coming!

Very interesting explanations. I had a bunion operated done by a wonderful surgeon. The non invasive method came from the US, but was improved by Spanish surgeons. No pain at all , I followed the instructions given to me after the operation. When I came back after a month for a check up I congratulated the surgeon for the great work. His answer really was astonishing : But Mam it's not only me, it's also you who helped in following my instructions. I need an operation for the second foot. I will do the exercises advised by HT Physio and see if I can fix it myself. The explanations on how to correct a bunion on the screen are fine except that the written part is hiding the pictures of the foot. It's a pity! It would be lovely if a solution could be found. Thanks for your work.

Thank you! As someone who has recently been diagnosed with bunions, I was not given any exercises to do but told that surgery was really my only option. I’m going to try your exercises before I opt for surgery!
  • Great video!! I’ve healed my herniated discs from your videos, now it’s time to heal my husband’s bunions. 😃

From all the videos I ve seen so far about bunions, yours was the most easy to comprehend and follow through out. The information on the hip and toe relationship has been so revealing and now everything concerning bunions makes sense to me. Thank you for being thorough and at the same time easy to listen to, concentrating only on the important things. Thank you for the exercises, just did them and I can feel a difference straight away.
  • im 85 and long time ago had both toe bunions surgeried and one has nerve damage and other hurt as bunion grew back. Sounds like your advice to help is very much worth trying. Thank you..

A wide toe box is a thing of beauty. They were not so easy to find in years past and even now in the US you have to be committed to finding them. They are now available in catalogs. Helpful video.
  • @user-me4vh8wi5n
Thank you for this information, which I will follow. I love that you explain the body mechanics, the exercises with easy to follow demonstrations , but also direct treatment. I.e., massage and strength. Amazing.
  • @childcrone
With shoes I also think it's so important to have them stay wide out at the toes. Those Nikes are wide across the ball alright, but then taper in on the toes. In movements when the foot is pressed against the inside edge or into the toe, there will be those outward-bending forces on the big toe that you don't want. I really appreciated the clear explanation & visual location of those particular foot muscles to address.
