I hope the game turns out cool as as the trailers make it look, but from the overpriced editions that lock content and "early access" to the online requirement to play the physical edition to the Stop Killing Games movement Ubisoft is embroiled in, it's not hard to imagine why optics are so negative right now. Ubisoft: "Be comfortable not owning your games." Me: Fine. Be comfortable not owning my money.
  • I wish that events like E3 still existed so that gamers could publicly boo these executives.
  • @kerricaine
Also, as a Canadian, there's a cruel irony to a Ubisoft game costing so much here; they're one of our countries biggest studios and get millions in tax relief and government grants, support programs etc. but we still pay way more to buy their products
  • Ubisoft: "players have to get comfortable with not owning games" Players: "Ubisoft has to get comfortable with people not buying or subscribing to their games."
  • -70 to 130 dollars -Online connection is a must to play -Microtransactions (cosmetics, DLCs) -A recent statement: "We Want People To Get Used To Not Owning What They’ve Bought" Ubisoft? More like Ubiclowns
  • What makes me mad, is that people will buy the expensive ones. What makes me mad, is this is an endless circle. And no one will learn their lesson.

Nice shout-out to Ross Scott (the guy behind Accursed Farms). He's been researching this kind of corporate stupidity for years and he could certainly use the attention and help to get things going.
  • The online requirement bullshit NEEDS TO STOP. Like actually it needs to STOP. Especially if it’s going to be a single player title. Games like Skyrim, fall out 3/4 you know are games still going to this day single player titles. Guess what you DONT need to play them? A ONLINE CONNECTION.. it SERIOUSLY needs to STOP.
  • "Paying for content ingame are time savers". Not buying the game is a time and money saver.
  • @jonadevos
If paying doesn't mean owning, pirating doesn't mean stealing
  • @Joyapp
how can anyone be excited for a game without any gameplay? its literally all cut scenes.
  • the best way to experience an ubisoft game is: A - pirate it; B - wait a year to get it for 10$.
  • @James-gj8rn
Wait this is a SINGLE PLAYER game and it requires a connection to play, i'm getting absolutely sick of BS, modern gaming just finds ways to constantly get worse "We're focusing on Live Service now" "DRM is going to ruin your game" "A game is going to require an internet connection to play it" (Sigh)
  • Ya'll need to get this through your heads: They don't WANT this game to be played in 20 years, like Skyrim and Fallout. In 20 years they want you renting streamed games like a videogame version of Netflix. They want to be able to delete your entire game library for Wrong-Think. They want to own YOU the way you want to own your games. If we refuse to buy any Triple A games for the next two years, we will be reminding them of one critical fact: They need us more than we need them. There's plenty of AWESOME indie games out there for you to enjoy for the next two years. And you PC gamers reading this know you have a Steam backlog that can easily keep you entertained for the next two years. Close your wallet to ALL Triple A Studios for just TWO years and the gaming industry will come crawling and begging us to return with good, consumer-friendly practices front and center. But you have to do it for at least two years. That's the minimal development/fiscal cycle needed to force the bean counters at these Studios to take notice and implement the necessary changes.

CEOs need to get comfortable with us not buying their slop
  • @bronzin1445
It’s Ubisoft. You’re obligated to dislike it
  • @RobsRemixes
“Looks neat” costs $130 to play an artificially locked mission and season pass, and the top edition is just absolute madness. Heard an interesting take that they’re putting prices so high to push people towards Ubisoft+ to play the best edition that way and sucker people into yet another service.
