In Tim Burton's BEETLEJUICE, the only way Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton) can run free in the living world is by marrying Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder). While Delia (Catherine O'Hara), Adam (Alec Baldwin) and Barbara (Geena Davis) are trying to stop him, Beetlejuice is throwing nothing but strikes. Watch the classic scene from Beetlejuice (1988).

Directed by Tim Burton
Written by Michael McDowell, Larry Wilson, Warren Skaaren
Starring Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Michael Keaton

The way he steps away from the altar to 'reconsider' marriage cracks me up every time. ๐Ÿ˜‚

"That is why I won't do two shows a night anymore, babe, I won't, I won't do 'em."
  • 5:13 Makes me laugh. The way Barbara just walks up and says Beetle Juice like a disappointed parent and Beetlejuice just screeches like a child that just got caught doing something that they are not supposed to do.

  • I donโ€™t care if the set design was supposed to be absurd, Iโ€™ve always loved it. I want a postmodern creepy 80s house like that

While he was a bit of a loose cannon, I never felt that Beetlejuice was really an antagonist. I mean, he DID save the Maitland's. I felt bad for him at the end.

Geena Davis in a wedding dress is such a cool visual. The movie is so effortlessly comedic.

I like how protective Lydia's parents were. They were pretty self involved but they weren't really bad.

One of the things that always cracked me up about this scene is the Beetlejuice is in this huge hurry to get done with the wedding, but when the undead priest dude asks if he takes Lydia to be his wife, he runs a couple feet away and has a little talk with himself about whether he actually wants to do it. I like to think of this as one of his flaws. He's got immense power, but his two great weaknesses are the name being said three times and his inability to be serious for any great length of time.
