Bill hicks is the man, just wish he coud come back and clean this world up!! i watch his material everyday, he is just the best comedian ever!!! but its what he was sayin also that moved alot of people and questioned what was going on with goverments! he is sadly missed !!! TRUE LEGEND!! R.I.P :-)

Just think Everyone in that venue that night had never seen Bill Hicks, may some heard of him but to have been there must of been magic and that's before anyone realized they were in the company of a (in my opinion) legend . Bill Hicks!

the british loved bill hicks during his lifetime , Bill was an instant success in the UK 2000 people packed out theatres to see him. If the British say this guy is very fucking funny then take it to the motherfucking bank that BILL HICKS IS A COMIC LEGEND.

Edinburgh festival has the toughest crowds in the world. bare in mind they hold host to the worlds best comedians each year.

The Edinburgh Festival comedy circuit is usually held in fairly small venues, so the crowd aren't tough ... just probably a small audience.

yeah very true, some people can't get passed the fact that swearing does show passion when talking or ranting about a subject, which is what bill hicks what truly all about, a full force of expression and passion, if he is restricted on what language he can use well then its gonna its gonna restrict bill on how full on and powerfull he can make his act, but hey it still works and its a buisness where you cant always do what ya wanna do, (censorship in the media, boooooooo)

@ScottishPEACEguy Billy Connelly has always cracked me up, but these days I'm well into Frankie Boyle. I've seen so many good comedians over the years and they are always so much funnier live than on TV - Frank Skinner, Alexi Sayle, Rich Hall to name a few. Hard to come up with a favourite, but Bill Hicks was one of a kind.

I wondered if a Texas comedian could get laughs in Edinburgh. I know, bangers and mashed didn't go over well in Charleston, where I live. There were two Bull and Finch places in town, and both went toes up, so I thought the crowd might just sit on their hands while Hicks performed. They reacted better than I would have hoped.
