Finally a real first lesson on Youtube ! Usually videos go THEM : "This is a C cord, this an G cord..." ME : I don't know how to hold the damn guitar, can you start with that ? So a big thank you !!!
  • Ok, for all those who are thinking they just "can't do it", I'm 62 and just starting. Bucket list sort of thing. I've always thought "there's just no way" I can ever learn to play the guitar. Nate Savage's First Guitar Lesson for Beginners is presented in a such a kind, positive, supportive way that I feel comfortable from the beginning. So, I'm in the process of going from a "can't do it" to "maybe I can" to "YES, I CAN do it". For me it's a process of learning self-discipline, which is not necessarily one of my strong points. All I'm trying to say here is that if I can give it a shot, so can you. The added value for me is that I have to focus focus focus and practice practice practice so it gets me out of my head, and all that "white noise" of life. I can't express how grateful I am to you Nate for your time to pass your talent on to us---talent to play, talent to teach. You've given me one of the most valuable things one person can give another: HOPE. So this is long-winded and some people will think it's sappy, but for me it's important that we just try to help each other make it though this thing called life. Ok, yeah I' grew up in the late '60's in case you couldn't tell.

I’m 79 and bought my first guitar last Friday. Needless to say this last week has been tough on the fingertips and some arthritis in finger #2 doesn’t help in making chords. Great video helps to motivate the learning process.

I’ve been playing for a year. I’m self taught, and I never have had a lesson. Just thought it would be fun to see what it looks like.

Thank you, this helps a lot. I’m picking up a guitar for the first time at age 42. Because my son age 10 started guitar lessons and I thought it something that We can do together. 😊

so I`ve been a drummer for six years or so, now decided to pick up the guitar. 10 mins in and my fingers are burning like hell. This is going to be a journey
  • Nate, thanks for the encouragement and practical application. I am an absolute beginner. I'm 54 years old, and I have made a goal of learning to play passable blues by age 60. I am not a performer by nature. I see this as a form of exercise for my mind and body, not a career path. So I just got my guitar today, and let the pain begin... (Thanks)

Picked this up surprisingly quick! Never played guitar before and this was the best beginner video I've seen. Thanks so much!! p.s. my fingers are screaming!!
  • I started group lessons last week and am a true beginner (57 years young) I have watched 2 of these videos and am extremely impressed and how thoroughly Nick explains everything in an easily understandable format. Great instructions!

I just wanted to say that you gave me a really great and in depth start to my guitar journey back in February with your beginner quick start series and I hope others too can gain the same helpful experience from you as I did.! Thank you!
  • I can’t believe how this video makes learning guitar so fun and easy! Thank you so much!
  • Thank you so much! Starting guitar as a nine year old can be hard, but you made it so much easier! Thank you again!
  • I love this. I shared this with my grandsons and I know they will appreciate it. They never played before and I would like to get them some lessons but they should try to establish the basics online and then go to get to the next level.

Thanks for this. I'm 27 and always wanted to learn how to play. I'm picking up my first guitar soon, maybe I've left it a little late but hey, if you never try right.
