Secret Invasion vs Winter Soldier? Never in my wildest dream would I compare these two together! But incredible video though, so many insights on why Secret Invasion failed.
  • Secret Invasion should have had us on our toes and paranoid at all times. Left no twists to be had.

Should be SECRET INVASION vs ANY SEASON OF AGENTS OF SHIELD. They literally did the Secret Invasion storyline every year for the first four seasons. Who is secretly Hydra? Who is secretly with the "Real SHIELD"? Who is secretly mind-controlled by Hive? Who is secretly an LMD? Every time it was better than Secret Invasion.

The Winter Soldier crossover with Agents of SHIELD truly was the peak of the MCU. I wish they could figure out how to recreate that. Excellent comparison

To this day, Winter Solider remains my favorite MCU film

I would be upset about Secret Invasion too if I hadn't already forgotten about it.
  • The Winter Soldier worked because it focused on an institution being corrupt from within . Secret Invasion wanted to go broader than that but unlike the comics didn’t really make any twists
  • If Brianna is writing stuff of this caliber it would be ace to see her present it directly. Great analysis. Also, Colton frequently writes for Ryan. Now Brianna is writing for Colton. Perhaps Ryan is writing for Brianna? Cue the Spider-Man meme! 😉
  • One of, if not THE BEST MCU solo outing, CA: TWS is one of those movies that establishes the main character and his principles post a major apocalyptic event of the Avengers so damn well, it's praiseworthy.

Winter Soldier has always been my favorite of all the marvel movies. Yall releasing this video today is a trip because i just rewatched it last night!

Props to that shy nerd for saying no to Rumlow. Bro had insane courage right there
  • Winter Soldier was my favourite Marvel movie till Infinity War became a thing. I even wrote an "essay" about it.

“There’s one scene that explains it all” as I have flashbacks to Ryan repeating the “give me your gun, goddammit!” scene

The sadness of Steve and Bucky is that they were both looking out for each other the whole time, but neither got to save their friend. Bucky finally got his mind back, and his best friend already moved on. Just like Steve moved on from Bucky when he realized that everyone he knew is dead. Culminates at the scene with Peggy. Both of these heroes wanted to save their best friend, and they did, but they never got to see it. Such a good movie

Rarely has a fictional relationship had more influence on me than the one between Steve and Bucky. it's been 10 years and I still feel it in my soul ngl

God winter soldier is my #1 marvel movie, the emotions and feelings it gives you are something that the new mcu is lacking, definitely a 9.8/10 a truly beautiful film

Secret Invasion is the only part of the MCU that I don't count. I absolutely would be on board if future MCU stuff in movies or TV just completely ignored or contradicted it.

Emotional payoff. Dialogue. Production value. Story continuity. The fact that Secret Invasion so clearly phoned it in. There was A LOT more than one thing that’s the reason one worked and the other didn’t

How Secret Invasion could be made better. 1. Set it after the Marvels. The influx of Skrull refugees to earth would cause tensions to rise as Nick and Co struggle to keep on top of things. 2. The Skrulls aren’t the ones carrying out the secret invasion, the Kree are. After the events of Captain Marvel they knew they could simple invade Earth when it had such a powerful champion so plan to do it covertly. With the blip being when they made their move. They use Shield technology to change their appearance, which they in tern use to frame the Skrulls. Ideally this is not revealed until the end. 3 Rhodey is a Skrull, but Fury knows so it’s a red herring, and it’s not sure if Rhodey is a Kree impersonator, a Skrull or the real Rhodey.

They truly thought bringing in a new character that gets pretty much everyone's powers then disappears forever was a good idea.
