Plus the thrill of finding something you’ve been wanting to watch at a thrift store is unmatched

I started purchasing physical media because I got tired of my streaming services 😮
  • @lt.loomis8176
I made the decision last week and I've already scooped up 50 Blurays for $140! Ones that I will rewatch. Way better deal than paying almost $50 a month to not be able to find anything on Netflix or Prime!!

i miss the days when you'd buy a movie or tv series on dvd and it came with a cool box with all kinds of goodies.

100% agree. Censorship has gotten out of control on streaming sites - owning the original releases on physical media is the ONLY option to get the fully uncut versions. Streaming services seem to be getting worse and worse. I never used to collect physical, but I now prefer having the media there at all times and it's nicer to actually own it. I'm sensing others are seeing the same and physical media sales seems to be going back up which is just crazy when you think about how it went away for a while. I COMPLETELY forgot about all the special features on these things too, it's absolutely incredible how much more content you get!
  • As an audiophile that sweet Dolby True HD keeps me coming back too! Can’t wait to eventually build an atmos rig!

4k blurays is the very best movie experience in the history of home video

Old school here I’ve always collected physical media ever since the 80’s music and movies ,I don’t and never will trust internet services because so many todays standers are effecting past and present music artists and films ,now my son doesn’t understand this no matter how I explain it to him, so my physical media collection will go some where after I’m gone. It’s a shame today’s generation see what’s around the futures corner of media control. Remember Fahrenheit 451 it was glimpses of what’s to come.
  • It’s because everybody starting to realize the truth that streaming services are a scam and everybody’s starting to panic not me. I’ve been collecting DVDs for over 20 years and they all still work and I never have to connect to the stupid Internet to watch my movies.

I love physical media I have been building my collection for awhile now. Plus its nostalgic and a past time.
  • @Msfili
I like picking up my blu rays and dvd's at garage sales so much more cheaper than the thrift store
  • @Rextum
Normal people: Streaming😊 Music/Movie nerds (like me): Now is the time to BUY CDS AND DVDS!!🤓
  • @glenntoplis8872
I’ve ever stopped buying physical media, mainly CDs and vinyl I’ve been collecting them for at least 40 years, I have a few hundred dvds too,,there are so many benefits..
  • @NexusNine
Yes, but the irony is, the fewer people who buy physical media brand new at full price, the less incentive there is for stores to carry them The fewer stores there are to sell them, the less incentive there is for studios to put the effort into producing the physical media. Don't get me wrong, physical media everyday all day, but we have to know what part we are playing in the decline of physical media.
  • I remember what a friend of mine asked me when Netflix and some of these other streaming services started to come online. He was like, all of the movies you want to watch will soon be online, so you can get rid of your physical media and free up some space in your home. I was like, what happens if a movie you like gets taken down because it suddenly becomes “problematic” or they no longer want to pay royalties to keep it. No thanks, I’ll keep my 900+ movies and TV series in physical form. That way, I can watch what I want, when I want. Fast forward a few years and this actually started happening. My friend was like, I’ll bet you’re glad you kept your physical copies aren’t you. I was like, yep! 👍🏾😀

I’ve been collecting physical movie since DVDs first came out and there is nothing better than just pop in a movie on when you want to watch it. I never have to worry about Netflix having the movie I wanna watch or a bill every month. Now I only buy about four or five movies a year when they come out that I like, i’ll buy the new Ghostbusters and Godzilla King Kong movie when they come to 4K blu-ray and it will be so much cheaper than buying Disney+ Netflix and HBO for the year. Streaming is a big rip off I recommend everybody by their top hundred movies physically and you’ll see how much money you save because you will not need all of those streaming services every month
  • @victorromero8010
I’ve been collecting my favorite shows and movies on DVD, Blu Ray and 4K Blu Ray for years. I recently got some working CRTs and some VCRs and I started collecting VHS tapes again. There’s a Savers five minutes away from my house. :)
  • I feel like the comment section of this video is such a good summary of why new collectors feel unwelcome in the community There are so many reason collecting now is a great start, if nothing else its the fact that collecting is always fun and media preservation as well as not having to rely on streaming are probably more relevant than ever. Also, starting now is probably better than never starting lol Thanks for the video!
