Lyrics:

Come to me
Rest your head
Warm within
Ocean's bed

Rock and sway
Your worries down
Ebb and flow
Fast and sound

Come friends
Don't be afraid
Come my dears
Pains wash away

Stay with me
Be at peace
Fears be still
Troubles cease

Hear my voice
Sweetly sing
Lullaby
Precious thing

Come friends
Don't be afraid
Come my dears
Pains wash away

Away

Come follow
Sounds of seashells
Pull the line
That leads to me
Give heed to me
Follow me

Come to me

Close your eyes
Hear my song
Quickly now
Don't be long

Come friends
Don't be afraid
Come my dears
Pains wash away

This song is a great example of how Supergiant always goes the extra mile. They went and hired actual sirens to sing for them, outstanding.
  • god I love how the closer you get to the source the louder the singing gets, it gets pretty hypnotizing within the ambience of Oceanus, I am not immune to a siren's call apparently

The Transistor vibes are even better if you've equipped the Moonstone Axe, and Mel is dragging it along the ground behind her as she's running around. Such a beautiful callback, especially with the humming going on in the background...
  • If I came across these sirens I would simply let them take me out, I'm pretty sure

I always loved going into Asphodel in the first game just because of the chance that I might get to hear Eurydice sing each run. Everytime I came across her room it was my routine to sit there for at least a couple of minutes just to listen to her songs, so I always had a big musical attachment to the second zone. I was wondering if they were going to opt out of that entirely in Hades 2, which was disappointing to think about but it seemed perfectly reasonable so I didn't expect too much going into my runs. Imagine the sheer amount of dopamine in my brain when I first enter Oceanus and start hearing this hauntingly beautiful singing, getting louder and clearer with every room I advance into, literally singing 'come to me'. The theme of the area instantly gave away what was coming, but it was such a beautiful revelation that I still can't get over it every time I listen to this song. Absolutely flawless, beautiful execution!!!

ngl now I understand why sailors couldn't resist... when the vocals started I just stood still in game for five minutes and listened to it. i don't know how you make me do this consistently in every game... i love you all. thank you for creating such beauty and joy.

That unmistakable voice ❤. I’m glad they’re working together once again!

This is an excellent metaphor for me not wanting to drown in debt by getting a PC and play immediately.

I arrived in Oceanus and my jaw dropped when I heard the voices begin to blend together and then the words started materializing like waves from the deep, caressing me into ENEMIES WHO DID A TON OF DAMAGE OMG Well done! I am in love with this song

Man, video game area music is a line to walk between "engaging and interesting" and "not distracting from the gameplay", and that's even harder with a piece that has lyrics. This manages to not only walk that line, but do ballet on it. Absolutely incredible, as always.

Unsolicited storytelling time: In the myths, Scylla was originally an ocean nymph. There are a few different versions of her transformation, but in the one I remember, some guy fell in love with her, but Scylla wanted nothing to do with him. He tried to chase her down, so she went into hiding. So naturally the guy went and found Circe, the pig mage from the Odyssey. Circe fell in love with him, because this is Greek mythology, but this time he wanted nothing to do with her, and because this is Greek mythology, Circe reacted not by turning him into a pig like she usually does, but by poisoning the pools Scylla used for bathing. That was what warped Scylla into what she is now. IIRC in the myths it was also supposed to have driven her insane, hence her hanging out with Charybdis and eating a bunch of Odysseus' crew. I'm not sure if they're going to use any of this in the game (although they've already referenced the fact that Scylla isn't a Siren), but if they do I suspect they'll probably say that her eating sailors, hating witches and gods, and hanging out with sirens is a form of revenge for all that shit, rather than a product of magical insanity.

Getting major "In Circles" vibes from this song, which im totally fine with. Love both songs.
