“Local initiative” seems to mean no oversight

I have allways said just because a weapon is old does not mean it ineffective it all come down to circumstances as to when best used. Knives are the oldest weapons and are still used in combat.

Are you guys really surprised these guys have been going at it since the stone age

IDF using medieval weapon against medieval people.

Based on the first dozen comments, your attempt to mislead has been effective. The trebuchet fireball was not intended to, nor did it, attack enemy forces. It was used to burn back undergrowth and maintain open sight lines to prevent the enemy from using cover to get close to the wall.
  • It is never okay to kill unarmed innocent men women and children
  • Americans don’t have teachers, new roads, high-speed rail, health-insurance or affordable homes FOR THIS?!

Full context: The IDF wanted to burn down overgrown grass and brushes. Normally, you would use "flamethrowers" (not the napalm typ from vietnam, but the gas ones for gardening work). In this particular case, a group of engineers where task. They had no intresst in crossing the border to do what essantial is gardening. Thus, they build a small trebuchet.

The Golan Heights is illegally occupied and belongs to Lebanon and Syria.

Why bother mentioning Oct 7? These guys have been at it for decades. The only reason to mention Oct 7 is to infer that the IDF is righteously protecting Israel in this case. Very poor reporting.

"They used a catapult called a trebuchet" Proceeds to show a catapult that is specifically not a trebuchet
  • Crazy thing is in 2024 you can still see a trebuchet lob flaming ball's over a wall🤯

So ... I have to presume that the Israelites are now just openly mocking the idea that they could ever be guilty of war crimes.

Shoul not be allowed to use American made trebuchets. 😮
