I used to suffer from shyness outside of family. It's probably hard for you to believe if you've only known me for the last 10 years or so - but I didn't have much confidence growing up. These tips have helped me immensely over the years - I hope they can help you too.

If you believe that we become the things we consistently practice, then.. the reason you are shy is because you've practiced being shy. What if confidence just took practice?

The moment we shift our attention from "ME" to outside world and on external environment, this shyness and awkward feeling goes away. Worked for me instantly
  • I hate the whole "Fake it until you make it" thing. It feels like lying. It feels disingenuous. But practicing confidence... rather than "faking it" ... I can get on board with that. That's not a lie. That's just working on the skill.

Vinh, you are the best mentor in speaking that I have found. I’m really grateful for happening to have you here in Youtube. I’ve thinking myself about how shy I was and how I really wanted to get out of this shyness barrier that I created myself. This is the time. You are such a role model, Vinh! I started to see some improvement of myself in my own confidence speaking with people and I will put 200% more effort to be who I want to be in the future!
  • Thanks for making the message so clear both from your personal experiences and great video editing.
