It's time for a Dark Souls 2 challenge run, themed on using Whips only! Dark Souls 2 has Whip, Bloodied Whip, Notched Whip, Spotted Whip, and Old Whip, and I explore each of them in this video as I beat all 41 DS2 bosses using just whips.

A bit more of a weapon showcase than a proper challenge since I'm not really at the level of doing that level capped/no rings/no armor stuff--and cause Whips will smash over any challenge run anyhow.

Pls enjoy.

Mothy said whip 240 times in this video.

"You may as well call Old Whips pancakes and bacon because they break fast." That took me way too long to catch. That's some grade A wordplay.

Just wanted to point out that you’ve got a pretty natural ability to read from a script without sounding robotic. A lot of more experienced podcasters and video essayists struggle with that a great deal and you seem to have taken to it pretty quickly. Kudos!

Finally, someone who says Huntsman’s COPSE correctly!
  • Didn't expect Dostoevsky references in my souls challenge runs but I'm here for it. Subscribed.

Also definitely felt that about DS2 being slower and letting you learn the bosses better. I basically only know the big showstopper moves from ER bosses because the game plays so fast, rolls come so easy, and stamina management is largely not a concern. In DS1 and DS2 you spend a lot more time paying attention to the boss to make sure you can time your rolls right and keep from running out of stamina and I like the way that challenges you. Also "vanilla cool whip" was clever.

On durability: The BDSM tree repairs broken equipment too. It's not useless at all, when your old whips or dragon ring+3 break, or your rare/rings of sacrifice which aren't deleted on death in ds2, you can just go whip the tree instead of spending several thousand souls for repair. Getting invaded by script kiddies throwing 9000 corrosive urns per second at you and breaking all your gear meant a trip to the tree. I'm also surprised how rarely you used repair powder. It has nearly no animation and it's unlimited supply from Wellager eventually ... I think the trigger for that is after you defeat the giant lord and his inventory updates. Flynn's ring + old whip as a direct damage power house would have been another style to try (though aava and sinh having extra bugged durability loss would still suck.) We used a ton of repair powder for weapon arts and repairing 3rd dragon ring back in pvp. Loved the narration and the journey, always happy to see more DS2. Keep at it!

Whips in Dark Souls 2 are GOATED. Actually fun and good to use

20:08 Aye, kind of a shame that a back attack with a whip is literally just jamming the thing into their lumbar region and not choking them out. Ah well, at least we can get a damage bonus from behind at all.

If your whip remains erect for more than four hours then contact your leathersmith.

I didn’t realize how enthralling I would find the whip animations lol. Great wordplay and jokes patter as always!!

Love your videos, the jokes and the singing... But don't think I didn't notice you chose Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer as BGM for the Ivory King DLC! Well played! 😂

17:14 100 Gecs Reference???? lmao this guy is fucking cool. really enjoyed the whippage!

I didn't do whips only on my first (and only) DS2 run, but I sure leaned on them heavy. Love that strike damage and being able to slap through walls.

46:43 The whip tree is EXTRA special, it's actually able to repair broken items as well. Extremely helpful if you're running agape for twinking or just not using the smith for whatever reason on a no-bonfire run.

Whips are kinda alright in Elden Ring. They don't compare to curve swords or great swords but are solid. I prefer a whip over a dagger to be honest. Outside Reduvia. Like the only exception because of its broken ash of war
