  • Just spewing some (potentially awful) ideas for Colosseum V2 (Hard-mode? Endless mode?): * Minotaurs start attacking Pillars if they're standing next to them for too long. Similar to nibblers in inferno, if they take too many hits, they fall. * Volatility deals AoE damage to surrounding NPCs. Yes, it's a buff to the player - but it also serves to speed up the flow of the wave, so it rewards you for taking a (arguably) risky invocation, and for upgrading it. * Similarly, it would be fun if the Javelin Colossi's 'mortar-attack' would deal damage to NPCs you drag onto the incoming Javelin. Couldn't work with the hot sand tiles, for obvious reasons. * Maybe Red Flag could lower the Minotaur's defensive stats, seeing as how (thematically) he's enraged by a red flag, prioritizing offense over defence. * Doom stacks could maybe increase the player's accuracy, damage or defence bonus? Something akin to 'desperation', where the more stacks you have, the more you hit. Would reward you for risking it and deliberately tanking as many hits as you think you can feasibly tank, without dying. * Relentless could maybe be reworked to 'Reckless'? Similar proposal to Doom stacks, where you cut your defence, but increase your accuracy/strength. * Saw a suggestion somewhere that standing in the middle of the Colosseum arena should increase your DPS, since it would be more of a spectacle for the viewers, as opposed to hiding along the outer parts of the arena. * Whacky idea, but I like the idea of Sol Heredit growing bored, and throwing his Trident into the arena, to spice things up. The trident lands on a random tile, and deals 3x3 AoE damage. Once the trident's landed, you can run over to it and pick it up and use it for yourself - for a limited time, before Sol Heredit grapples it back from you. The trident could have really good DPS, but it requires that you run out of safety from behind the pillars to actually grab it - and you risk being damaged by the grapple attack if you miss-time it. Overall, probably a good thing I'm not involved in game design lol. Still fun to throw out ideas.

    The armour mechanic has gone mostly unnoticed but that's an amazing way to diversify BiS. To gnomonkey not seeing the benefit, it gives more parameters by which to diversify, yes perhaps on initial implementation we're not going to see the endgame meta change but like you said Saebae, it's future proofing the diversity of gear choice. Armour mechanic, elemental weakness, focused ranged and melee weakness is all going to provide a parameter that jagex can tune and dial in the exact gear that is optimal. I think we should be taking this even a step further and expand the Attributes system that's currently woefully underutilised: Golem, Undead, Demon, Leafy, etc. You don't need to add specific Elder Maul weakness to Tekton if you just have the golem attribute on him and add Golem damage/accuracy on the Elder Maul. That's the more polished, future proof methodology. Expand Demonbane, Golembane, Leafbane. Make bosses with those attributes, easy weapon identity is created.

    As someone who can't do gm tasks effortlessly but can do most elite/masters, I found most of the dt2 tasks pretty interesting and fun to go for. I don't like the speedrun tasks though because they pretty much soft lock you to having very good gear. I love challenging myself to doing elite/master/gm tasks with way above average gear on my ironman but there's always the few speeds that I just physically can't do without insane luck

    to say that "you dont see it" for the new combat update is very short sighted. i guess currently in the game no. but if they are doing all this engine work to be able to release content at a future time then the time and work invested in implementing is 100% worth if it opens up new space.

    I made the same point that the perilous moons rewards feel better than the colosseum rewards apart from quiver lmao its so fucking sad how bad they are

    Also, the solution for run energy: Buff various run restore items - Strange Fruit, Papaya, etc Buff the run depletion scaling so that early level agility doesn't deplete as fast Add run gnawing mechanics, run reduction debuffs to certain areas / new run focused dungeons- This encourages higher agility still but only in mid to endgame content. This also avoids bulldozing / tanking the economy or game balance on run restoring items now that they are more useful to bring with you. Add a method to store multiple strange fruit like the large meat pouch Change weight reduction mechanic so that now along with the actual weight of an item it can also have a +agility stat For example Crystal armour gives +5 agility per piece with +5 set bonus - This would provide a massive +20 agility if in full crystal armour, then make a dungeon where you have to keep moving, wearing crystal set + bowfa and shooting enemies down hallways as you move. Combine this with my other comment on Attributes - Add Leafbane to Blade of Saeldor and include Leafy enemies in the dungeon. Now you're gear switching bowfa to saeldor as you hack, slash and shoot your way through a Tree-root network styled dungeon. If you'd like to work on any of these ideas btw Sae, I have docs and ideas for Rebalance for a while, I've been cooking up 'Project:Guthix' for years now and would love some exposure / to provide you content to mull on Edit: You could also have run restore items scale from Agility Level to encourage levelling it, much like Prayer potions restoring more with higher prayer

    yeah they need to big time buff colosseum rewards and add endless mode and many more invocations. they could even add multiple layouts at the colosseum so its a totally new fight when you go inside of it with total different monsters and different end boss all they have to do is code it to have multiple layouts you can choose from. simple fix. I think they need to do this this would be the best outcome.
