One of the best Bruckner 4 performances on YouTube. Excellent.

Proof that you don’t have to be in Chicago, New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, etc. to have a world-class orchestra. A Coruña? I never even heard of it until I discovered this orchestra a few years ago. Now I want to live there so I can go to every concert of this wonderful group! (David Bushnell reigns!)

Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, October 3, 1923 – February 21, 2017 It was my great privilege -- and unforgettable experience -- to have been in the audience at Symphony Hall in San Diego in the mid-eighties to hear Skrowaczewski conduct a concert that included a stunning performance of Anton Bruckner's 7th (with the cymbal crash). Afterward in the Green Room, I thanked him for a glorious performance, and also for one of my cherished recordings, the one he had made with Artur Rubinstein of the Chopin 1st Concerto. He lit up with a smile from ear to ear and said, "Ah, Artur; we had so much fun making that record," then clasped my hand. Rest In Peace, Maestro. And again, thank you.
  • Bruckner‘s symphonies are the stronghold of my soul All of Bruckner‘s symphony is the cry of the soul, and the depth is immeasurable, and beyond description

I have been viewing the Bruckner concert videos from all over YT.Including great performances posted by the North German Radio (NDR Elbphilharmonia) conducted by Gunter Wand. But for Bruckner's 4th I keep coming back to this performance by the Sinfonica de Galicia and Maestro Skrowaczewski. Outstanding! Simply the best! This may be the 50th or even the 100th time I have watched this performance. Thanks for posting, SinfonicadeGalicia!
  • Apart from this great performance, it is a joy to see the sponteneity of the orchestra when Skrowaczewski calls out the several group of players, horns.. all smiles the violinists ticking their bows in unisom and raising them as if raising the flags. Pure joy and FUN to watch, never seen anything like it; all expressing "Thank You Maestro !!"

Simply glorious! Stan at 90 shows how it's done. And the Sinfonica de Galicia, meanwhile a world class orchestra, executes brilliantly in all sections. One of the Bruckner cornerstones.
  • Praise to the maestro, the players and the sound engineer! Wonderful performance!

I just watched this performance again, after enjoying the recent posting of the Schumann 4th under Juanjo Mena. As I have said before, I think this is the World Best performance of the Bruckner 4th on YT. Arguably, the World Best period. And this time I thought how sad that Bruckner didn't get to hear his 4th Symphony played here. I suspect he never got to hear it played this well by people who loved his work. Thanks, again and again, for saving this great performance and sharing it with the rest of us. Best Wishes from Washington,DC.
  • Its impact is incredibly exciting. The first time I heard this symphony I fell in love with it immediately, especially with its first movement. This orchestra transmits the great emotion of Bruckner´s score. Congratulations.

Thanks for posting this great performance! I have attended only one concert conducted by Maestro Skrowaczewski, when he led the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, opening with the Overture in G by Bruckner. But I have many of his recordings. Oh, to have been in the audience for this concert. I've enjoyed so many of the other performances by this fine orchestra posted on YouTube.

Even though the Minnesota (Minneapolis Symphony) Orchestra was shaped early on by such luminaries as Eugene Ormandy, Antal Dorati and Dimitri Mitropoulos, it was Skrowaczewski who brought that orchestra (over the course of two + decades) into a new age. RIP Stan. You are sorely missed! I'm sure even the brilliant current conductor, Osmo Vaanska, would agree that Stan had an extraordinary legacy with that great orchestra. And to see Stanislav conduct equally great orchestras - even at his advanced age - is truly wonderful. We will miss you, maestro!

The applause is the best part...the highlight of any performance....but this conductor usually gets more than most; that I'm also most grateful for those uploads which can include as of much of this as possible...Thank You!!...
  • I treasure my recording of this symphony with Skrowaczewski and the Halle Orchestra.  He really has a very gorgeous vision of what this piece can be.
  • Genial interpretación de la maravillosa cuarta sinfonía del compositor A. Bruckner por esta afamada orquesta gallega bajo la batuta del legendario y longevo maestro polaco Stanislaw Skrowaczewski fallecido en el reciente año 2017. BRAVO !!!!

  • Does anyone else feel chills running down the spine at 50:33? This work is absolutely magnificent and intimidating, yet beautiful enough to be described as magical.
