I got the great privilege to sit with my friend and brother in Christ, Wesley Huff, and ask him to talk about this. I would consider Wesley to be an expert on this sort of topic, so I find what he has to say on this topic to be very compelling and hopefully will be to you too.

For as much as Christians put their faith in the Bible, I find it so sad that so many don't know how we got the Bible and the origins of scripture. I have had to do a lot of digging to get some good understanding of this as it isn't taught in the pulpit and I am so surprised that it isn't. Knowing this is so foundational as it is one of the biggest things under attack today. Thanks for sharing.

Whenever Melissa says "one more question", you know she's really restraining herself because she probably has a hundred more questions in her mind 😂

I recently had a Muslim tell me that the council of Nicea essentially created the Trinity! I wasn't sure where to start researching, so this couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you so much for making a video on this topic! Edit: Just finished watching it 😊 I'm going to rewatch and take notes after I get my daughter to bed and I'll be able to better inform the Muslim that I'm talking with!

YouTube needs a love button! Thank you two for being vessels for God’s purpose!
  • I love this. I’m a historian myself, still working on my degrees. This is a nice framework that gives me stuff to look up later and study. Thank you.

I have been unitarian my entire life, but recently have been interested in challenging some of my beliefs in regards to the trinity. This video is very interesting, and definitely inspires me to rethink some things.

I could easily become a church history geek if all I had to do was listen to history teachers like this very enlightening & informational because I'm not a dedicated reader unfourtanetly. My attention span is short when reading till my eyes go shut & I find myself asleep.cant wait till I can come across another history lesson. Thanks Melissa & Wesley!@
  • Amen in the mighty name of Jesus Christ 😇👏🏾😇❤️ so thankful and grateful that I saw this video 😇👏🏾😇❤️

This is AWESOME you guys! I want to play it on loud speakers out my window to the whole city! I look forward to coming back at my "you're brainwashed' unbelieving friends with the question of where they get their credentials in theology.... which I know is Dan Brown and Indiana Jones. I know the real reason is that they just love their sin more than they love to learn. Wesley is spot on...LAZINESS is the reason. Thank you for this extremely helpful discussion. I will share it with my friends and we will all be edified. God bless you, Melissa! I'm going to check out Wesley's blog :)

Hi, Melissa! I've found you recently. Thanks for your job. I would like to tell you a lot of things but I don't speak or write English very well. God bless you. Un abrazo desde México.

This... was... PHENOMENAL! Thanks MD and thanks to your special guest for the easy to follow breakdown.
  • I had a coworker who used to be a Pastor who told me the Bible was put together by a council and that the Bible was FULL of human error because it was "made by men for men" and this is so unbiblical!!! LOL I can't wait to present him with this new i for and hopefully put his heart and hope back in the living word and Jesus!
  • I respect the work you're doing. So many misconceptions are taught these days and it's so refreshing to find solid Biblical teaching. This interview is fascinating. I will definitely come back to it. I would like to know if you've heard about World Mission Society Church of God. It is a sectarian church and the teachings are a mix of Mormonism, Jehovah's Witness and craziness. My daughter is involved in that sect that by the way, has millions of followers and I would love for you to talk about it. I would write more but this is a comment and not a dissertation. 😂 I just pray you will feel curious to know a bit about it. At the moment my daughter won't speak to me or let me see my grandkids. Their beliefs have a lot to do with that. To give you an idea, they think the Holy Spirit is a woman living in Korea and they believe in God the Father and god the mother, who is supposed to be Jerusalem.
  • Thank you so much for taking the time to clear this up. I really wish I’d had this information in college.

Dear Melissa: I very much enjoyed this video with Wesley Huff (a fellow Canadian and scholar). I was also quite pleased to see that you recommended his YouTube channel as one of your “Ten(ish) Recommended.” I couldn’t agree more. I just wanted to pass on to you that our denomination recites the Nicene Creed at every service of Holy Communion, as follows: “I believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And of all things visible and invisible: And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, Begotten of the Father before all worlds; God, of God; Light, of Light; Very God, of very God; Begotten, not made; Being of one substance with the Father; Through whom all things were made: Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, And was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, And was made man, And was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, And the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, And ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead: Whose kingdom shall have no end. And I believe in the Holy Ghost, The Lord, The Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, Who spake by the Prophets. And I believe One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the Life of the world to come. Amen.” [Please don’t let the rather archaic language throw you for a loop. As Traditional (i.e., Orthodox) Anglicans, we still use the 1962 Canadian Book of Common Prayer or “BCP.” By the way, the original BCP - or “Prayer Book” - was enacted by the first Act of Uniformity of King Edward VI of England in 1549 (it having been chiefly compiled by Thomas Cranmer, who became Archbishop of Canterbury in 1533 during King Henry VIII’s reign)]. Additionally, all other rites and/or worship services contained in the BCP (e.g., Morning & Evening Prayer; The Ministration of Holy Baptism; The Order for Confirmation; The Solemnization of Matrimony; The Burial of the Dead; etc.) make use of the Apostles’ Creed, as follows: “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Catholic Church; The Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the body, And the Life everlasting. Amen.” Anyway, to say the least, my wife and I are "big fans" of your channel and - as former youth workers and Christian Educators - are very much looking forward to the video series you are currently producing with your 10-year-old daughter, Jasmine. In the meantime, we will keep you, your most powerful (and much-needed!) ministry, and your family very much in our daily prayers. Please stay healthy and safe. Yours in Christ, Father Alan

You have some great YouTube video's but this was far and beyond the best I have heard. I throughly enjoyed listening and learning from Wesley and am heading to his website. Thanks Melissa.

This takes me back to church history and systematics in the divinity faculty at Aberdeen University. It totally gobsmacked me when preaching during the vacancy at the church where I was the older adult paster that no one there had heard of the council and the impact on faith now.
  • Wow...excellent! Thank you, Mellissa and also thank you to Wesley! :) God bless you guys!
