This One Scene From Inside Out 2 Calls Out Disney (and other Media Companies)

Inside Out, both the first and second film, is really good at making metaphors with how the mind works; and it's one of my favorite aspects of the franchise. But the sequel takes it further by including one scene that can have multiple meanings depending on how you see, and each interpretation is just as valid as others.

It always SENDS ME the way Anxiety gets confused about all the positive imagination ideas and stops mid-way in her dialogue with the -. _ .- face when she realizes Joy is the culprit from how obviously Joy-centric it is

Not me immediately whispering to the friend beside me, "Live footage of Mappa employees."

EXACTLYYYY im shocked nobody was pointing out how this scene might replicate the problems with animation workplaces, especially DISNEY
  • in the theatre I whispered to my sister "this scene is literally 1984"

At 7:18 you can see a version of the distracted boyfriend meme in the top right
  • Im really surprised disney let this into the final product. Its a straight up criticism of their scummy business practice and mistreatment of creative workers

Wow, i've never even thought about how this scene portrays these executive issues within the animation industry. Good call!

It was also referenced in the part where they had to quickly pick Riley’s career(they had to pick a balloon} and they saw art teacher and I believe one of the emotions said “under appreciated” maybe this was all a way for them to show how much the art industry doesn’t appreciate and mistreats the people working for the industry.
  • I saw the movie the other night with my friend and we agreed that this scene was basically the entire creative team holding up a “help me” sign like Wile E Coyote.

I’m an animation student, when the scene came in, my mom just glanced slowly at me and I just said “yep, that’s gonna be me!”
  • I've never seen 1984 or the Apple commercial, so I just saw the scene as PIXAR calling out the unfair conditions of animators. It made me laugh the second it started and I adore the scene. I'm happy I'm not the only one who noticed.
  • I love how this relates to that one Owl House scene where Luz calls out Disney(actually more than one scene)!
  • @deanos32
Yeah, when that scene came up in my watch party (yes we bought 60 dollars of movie tickets), we all mutually agreed that it was a Mappa Studios moment.
  • My brother and I saw Inside Out 2 last week and we loved it. I personally loved it because I'm an adult and cartoons are my special interest. I love Disney animated movies and tv shows like Inside Out, Turning Red, The Owl House, Amphibia and The Ghost & Molly McGee because of their themes of found family, friendship and acceptance of being different from others. This scene in Inside Out 2 was amazing I do hope that there will be major changes in the animation industry so that creators will get the creative freedom they deserve and for me personally, I do hope someday that we will see The Owl House and The Ghost & Molly McGee again.

Pixar just became quite aware of how Disney is right now and I am all for it.
  • "I literal house of cards." I saw a tumble post breaking down the imagery a few weeks ago.

Into the Spider-Verse's animation is so amazing, that Sony CAN NOT expect Beyond the Spider-Verse to be finished just one measly year after Across the Spider-Verse. That is why it has been delayed by another four years, and I am sure it is worth the wait. In the meantime, fans of Peni Parker's voice actress can enjoy her new Disney Channel series, Kiff! Tomorrow is Halfway There Day, and Kiff Chatterley will be there to remind us that 🎵squirrels just want to have fun!🎵 July 1, 2024, 5:34pm

In the first movie, Happiness tasks Fear with theorizing the worst scenarios for Riley's first day of school. Why does Anxiety exist if Fear was already responsible for worrying Riley?

It makes sense Pixar would do this. During an extreme deadline crunch for Toy Story 2, a man who worked at Pixar had to drop off his infant son at daycare before going to work. A few hours after getting to work, his wife (who also worked at Pixar) asked him if he dropped their son off. It turned out that he was so burnt out that he had left their son in the car in the middle of summer. The child survived, but Pixar took measures afterwards to prevent against burnout and maintain the health of their employees.

The scene with the anxiety controls them to say every possible bad situation is so true. One time I was thinking some negative things that i thought would happen and then I thought a happy thought and all my thoughts turned happy
