TW: substance, emotional, physical abuse

Social media sensation and powerhouse singer-songwriter Alex Warren joins the Lautners to discuss his challenging childhood that made him who he is today as a friend, partner, and artist. Alex lost his father to cancer at the age of 9, and his mother a few years ago to addiction. He suffered emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his mother, before being kicked out at the age of 18. He was homeless and started posting content on the internet, then watched as his life quickly took a turn. Despite millions of followers tracking his every move, he’s opening up now like never before in his music. In addition to sharing his childhood with us, he opens up about current family dynamics with his siblings, his outlook on death, and the most cathartic song he’s ever written. Lastly, he talks about his fiancé, Kouvr, and the incredible support she’s been in his life.

So much of this😢 My dad passed away when I was 19, one of my brothers was 9. He never did well with, depression, anger, addiction, at 22 he passed away from a drug and alcohol overdose. 7 years later and my heart still hurts for him, and I miss him SO MUCH!

  • I loved this episode. As someone who has also lost their father at a young age I resonated so much with Alex and his songs have such a special place in my heart. 🤍

Beautiful interview. Save You a Seat hit me in the feels when I heard it because I lost my Dad 5 years ago this month to suicide. Such a lovely song to talk about navigating life without a parent(s).
  • WOOAH! HE FINALLY ARRIVED 🤩 I CAN'T WAIT TO WATCH IT TOMORROW And learn even MORE from this incredible human being

Love Alex Warren, he is a pretty incredible person!
  • 3 accounts you would follow on any platform Alex: Taylor Lautner, Taylor Lautner "Money comes from twilight" "My sisters grew up watching your movies" I've NEVER felt SO well represented in a Podcast Episode 😂

I would just like it to be on the record that I’m pretty sure there was a happy toy for twilight that was team Edward and team Jacob. Or maybe it was Burger King. I just remember getting a team Jacob one and being upset about it lol (no offense Taylor, but like Tay I was an Edward girly)
  • @ciera.brooke
Jacob from twilight did have a Barbie doll though and I had it!! Haha!!

THATS INSANE WHAT ALEX WENT THROUGH AND HOW HE IS AS A PERSON NOW, HES NOT AN ADDICT, HES doing good in life, he has a great partner, like DAM poor dude!!! SMH SOOO beyond sad that as a child to be put through all that!!!!! SO SAD!!! I FOUND my stepdad dead when I was 21 he was only 46 bc he was an alcoholic and did the same thing, drank himself to death after my mom took my little sister and left him bc she didn't want my sister which he was her real dad, she didnt want her to find him dead like I did. AND I had already left the house when I was 17 to live wit a shitty bf LMFAO smh, and I came back after I broke up wit him and met someone else who is now my baby dad, but we ended up being together for 13 14 years after, but YEAH I was dating him at the time we met when I was 20 he was 21 and we were each others first everything, and SO when my mom took my sister and left I moved back in wit my stepdad to help him bc he was also bi polar and became a diabetic from the drinking bc it has so much sugar in it, and he would go into diabetic shock and basically didn't know wtf he was doing, and u have to give them either orange juice or something wit sugar and then their insulin shot. AND SO I was working at the time at KFC lol and I worked night shift and so did my baby dad, who wasn't my baby dad at the time cuz I didn't get pregnant until I was 22 so 2 years after we got together, AND SO I woke up later in the day like 2 3 pm and our cat was acting SUPER weird like he knew my stepdad was dead already all day, bc he was at my bedroom door crying and crying and wouldn't go away smh, SO I got up, went to the bathroom and as I was crossing the hallway to get to the bathroom there's an opening to the living room, and I saw in the corner of my eye my stepdad was sitting up on the couch watching TV, just sitting straight up legs on the ground, so I didn't think anything of it, I went pee came back out and I don't remember everything, but I think I went out into the living room to get coffee and I just saw him with his head down in between his legs, and on the floor there was this big black stain like blood that he must have threw up, and I went over to him bc he obv wasn't talking or responding to me, and I touched him and right then and there I knew he was dead bc his body was cold, so he must have died early in the morning and bc I worked night shift I wasn't awake to know, SO I obv called 911 and they wanted me to give him CPR but I said no bc I knew he was gone, I saw pills on the counter that he must have been snorting the night before and then mixing wit alcohol, yeah and his body was cold, there was imprints in the floor of his feet in the carpet, I layed him down on his back and the rest of the air that was in his lungs came out SMH IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! He raised me since I was 3 and I didn't get to say goodbye, his last couple months he just wasn't right in the head either from all the drinking he did his whole life, and YEAH! I KNOW IMA STRONG MOTHER fer!!!!!! lol IM GOOD THO that was in 2011 I'm 34 now and happy and rasing my girls and YEAH!!!!! JUST WANTED to share my story!!!!
