A video step by step guide for using The Uniden BCT15X Scanner in The UK. The scanner is a great receiver but it comes with the preset USA settings on out of the box. This video shows you how to remove the default American settings and then program your systems and groups to enter frequencies into. It also has a look at the close call feature, searching and the band scope feature.

If you have any questions or need help then ask below in the video comments or visit The UK Radio Scanning Forum at ukradioscanning.com/

Love mine great video, lots of people end up selling them because they find them hard to work out, but once you get your head around it, it’s great and one of the best scanners iv ever had, this video says it all in one easy and understanding way, so to people that’s got one please give it time and keep it as you will learn and get used to it, as like I said once you got it around in ya head, it’s great and has the best reception and receiving iv ever used, as long as you got a half decent antenna.

This video helped me a lot when I got the BCT 15x and I love the scanner. Where I live in Lydd Kent I am a mile from the local Lydd airport where besides the airports goings on there is the Coastguard helicopter. I can hear the chopper warming up from my house, then I switch the scanner onto the airband and listen to the crew speaking on Polycon. I can hear the crew as far west as Beachy Head and sometimes as far as Margate eastwards. I also listen to the Coastguard helicopter on the marine band. Where I live three miles from Dungeness I can listen to traffic on both sides of the English channel on the marine band which is fascinating. There were a few Mayday calls last year involving the French Navy tug based in Boulogne bringing ships in for repairs after a collision. There was one ship last year just off of the coast of Folkstone where a boulder barge collided with a freighter. The ship was badly damaged and 11 crew members had to be rescued by the helicopter. Myself and my wife listened for most of the day to Dover coastguard, the lifeboats, the Coastguard helicopter on polycon. The ship was towed to Boulogne by the French navy tug. An interesting day all round thanks to the scanner. My antenna is a discone 1300 that I have had for over 25 years. Sorry for waffling and my thanks go to xtratalk 1 for his help in my learning. I use the Freescan software for the programming which is free on u tube. Good luck..73s...

Excellent video to start me off, then i got freescan to program and was given a few files, then moved on and got Squawker and linked that with Zopkins interlink and a dedicated cable, that was well worth doing as when its set up if it lands on a station in the airband it shows you what it is, you can then save it as a file and upload it.

  • Hi, Great vid for the first timers with this complex beast ! The box should just have a link to this video rather than the useless manual on a disc. I went down the software route as i think you saw from my video as i could not figure it out via the manual prog method initially!
