This has to be my favourite ball routine ever. She moved the ball so exquisitely with the perfect choice of music. Elegance and charisma was on display in this routine by Yana.

I feel sorry for all the future fans who will only know of the Olympic Champions and never hear of Yana. That cursed clubs routine was a costly yet minor stain in what was otherwise a stellar career. She dominated the field and every apparatus like no other in her generation but the ball is perhaps where it is shown more clearly. While other gymnasts may perform more difficult skills, none has ever made the ball look like a magnetic extension of their body like she has. Not Kabaeva, not Kanaeva, not Mamun and not the Averinas. Only Yana.

I first fell in love with Yana when she did her routine with Chopin nocturne but we don’t have rhythmic gymnastics in my country so I never got the chance to do it so instead I majored in music so I can play gracefully for gymnasts like her :) at least I somehow participated in rhythmic gymnastics:) thank you Yana ♥️
