How to Beat SONIC in Smash Ultimate

Thank you for this. Sonic is one of the hardest opponents for me to deal with in the whole entire game. Mad props to those, like yourself, who know the match up.

So basically..... it's impossible lmfaoooo i'm a Daisy main and i absolutely hate playing against Sonics lool they're so frustrating. the best advantages i've gotten has been getting under them and using my up airs and... that's it. recently though, i've been trying to improve my edge guard game. sonics recovery is pretty predictable and once you start making more daring plays off stage, you might be able to get one over him lol.... might.

I want to add extra info to this. There’s a difference between spin dash and spin charge. Spin dash is a one hit move when it’s not fully charged and Spin charge is a multi attack version of spin dash. When I found out about this, it actually made sonic easier to fight having that knowledge. Since it kinda throws you off in how long you need to shield. So it’s important to look at which type of spin he uses.

Thanks for the video, I had a sonic coming up in bracket so I watched this quickly to prepare, and was able to win using some of these tips. Ended up getting 13th/82 players in part due to winning that set

Me: maining Sonic and sees this video well, that's good for people who don't main Sonic, but this help me too for people who try to beat me

most of these tips wont help against a good sonic but if ur having trouble with homing attack and spin dash spammers then its helpful sure.

That Sonic at 6:20 completely wasted his double jump though.

It’s pretty hard to fight sonic, he plays mostly defensive, but due to his speed it’s pretty hard to play aggressive towards him.

As a Sonic main, I feel that you let a LOT out. Any good sonic can mix up their recovery with spin shot, and can even go under the stage with side and down B. Sonic also has the Spring Ride, which can also kill a heavy around 40% if timed and hit with a full up air. Sonic's combo game is also insane, having combos that can do up to 55%, so you would mainly want to avoid falling up airs and spin charges, since those are his 2 main combo starters other than grabs.Even though Sonic is light it can be pretty hard to hit him with a strong move, since he can almost ALWAYS get out of a situation that is not a true combo, so if your gonna kill a Sonic, it has to either be a hard punish, or a kill confirm. So in my opinion Sonic is the hardest character to beat, due to his escape options and speed, so you have to play SUPER defensive. (Again this is my opinion and others can have their own)
