  • Loved the Perforated 600 pads for my HD-58X, will be buying these today for the HD-8XX. Thank you for your service Zach.

Love what you do, Zach. Thank you so much. You’re a terrific material scientist. I’ve got one of your new headbands coming to me. Looking forward to it. I need it! :)

Amazing stuff. Glad we have aftermarket pads that are within spitting distance of the stock pads measurement wise, and won't disintegrate immediately
  • @vincentquy
Gonna put these on my Christmas wishlist :)

My HD800 was old already when I bought it used. ZMF replacement pads might be a good way to refresh them a bit. Suede to recreate the feel of stock along with a similar sound sounds good to me since I have no issues with the stock sound of the HD800 (along with my rig). Side note, I really enjoy the video showing both how to replace the pads and the measurements/what to expect from the sound. Nice format. The pacing felt good to me too. 👍

Just got my suede and leather pads in the mail and the new headband strap too. I tried to put them on without removing the inner black mesh and the pads didn't end up latching on very well. I was considering writing an email to complain about this but ended up rewatching the video. And turns out attaching the pads without the mesh first works way better haha. Comfort is definitely a step up from stock but I have a big head so adding pads and a headband strap makes them fit a bit tighter but am happy with the new fit so far.

Loving mine for my HD800. The headphone used to sit pretty loosely on my head but I like the slight increase in snugness due to these lambskin pads and the crescent strap. It is still very comfortable and grips my head a bit better. The bass has increased a little and the highs are a bit more controlled while still maintaining the width the HD800 is known for. Thank you Zach!

Bought the lambskin earpads along with the Pilot Pad-headband (also lambskin) for my ancient HD800 from a retailer in my country, and regret nothing. Sound is a bit weightier/fuller and soundstage is about the same as with the og Sennheiser ones. Comfort is stellar, as expected, with the ZMF earpads and headband on. Highly recommended!

Love this guy! Can’t wait to be able to afford one of the higher end models someday

I got the zmf lambskin pads last week, for my HD8XX (unmodded), and I think the ZMF pads work really well with the stock Drop tuning. Soundstage is still good IMO, and the whole headphone sound signature is less lean, and has more body/weight to it. More engaging as Zach said. So far, I think the ZMF lambs are a winner for the HD8XX.

Why am I up at 1AM watching this video on a school night? If Zach can make the 8XX good with ZMF pads I'm interested
  • @williams-ws9et
Zach/ZMF--could you please post a video with HD800 or HD800S measurements instead of the HD8XX? They graph pretty differently.
  • @mamamia7011
Thanks for the measurements. Any plans to add perforated pads for the HD800? Btw you sound SO much like Greg from Succession.
  • @Mark-fs7ok
Thanks for the video! I tried the Dekoni pads on my HD800S some time ago and found that they killed the wonderful HD8** soundstage. I’m wondering what effect the ZMF suede pads have on the soundstage? Do the ZMF pads reduce it? Are the lambskin better as far as preserving soundstage?

Thank you for this video Zach! My plan was to first get the Gustard R26 DAC, then the HD 800S and then save for a while more before picking up the ZMF Atrium (thanks to Lachlan for his recommendation and that of several other reviewers online). The HD800S retailed for about USD1,680 here in Singapore and the Atrium aged Cherry version retails for about USD$2,640. While browsing a local app where used and pre-loved products are on sale, I saw the Atrium and just had to change my original plan. It was great that the seller accepted my proposed price. So, I bought and collected my first ZMF Atrium yesterday, it is used for about 3 months plus. I met and collected from the seller in a public car park so the first thing I did when I’m back was to test and make sure it works. I ended up listening for 2 hours before bed and another 2 hours this morning. Now to learn more about the different pads. After the seller agreed to my proposed price, I saw the HD800S going on sale till 11.11 at USD$1,215. 😂

Is that an 8XX? I see that tape in there!

I've been using the lambskin pads on my sticker modded 8xx for the past 7 months. Great comfort and sound, but sadly the plastic material to snap the pad onto the headphone is very brittle. In under 15 removals to clean out debris the right pad's inner plastic broke on the angled snap in. Be very careful with these, had no luck resoldering the plastic together the tolerances are too precise.
