When Matt McDonald began his Ph.D. studies in chemical engineering at Georgia Tech, he thought his running might be done. When his professor got him involved with the Atlanta Track Club, he realized it was inevitable that he would be competitive again. Now he's preparing to be one of the top contenders at the Olympic Marathon Trials in Atlanta, Georgia.

    I just finished a PhD at tech. I see this guy around the biotech quad. That's remarkable that he can compete at this level on top of being a grad student
