Edited reaction to Star Trek TOS (1966) - Season 1 - Operation: Annihilate! | Canadian Reaction | TV Commentary

We are back this week with some more Star Trek: The Original Series! Today, we are watching the final episode of season one titled OPERATION: ANNIHILATE!. This episode was sooo good! As you will see, I was tensed the entire time. These weird alien jellys killed Kirk's brother Sam, his wife, hurt his child, and infected our Spock! For a while, things were looking kind of dicey, but thanks to our crews ingenuity, they not only saved themselves but a whole planet!

This season has been a great ride. It makes me so excited to dive into season 2!

Let me know what you thought of the episode, and what your favourite episode of season one was!

Can't wait to hear from you!

The iconic series STAR TREK follows the crew of the starship USS ENTERPRISE as it completes its missions in space in the 23rd century. Captain James T. Kirk - along with half human/half-Vulcan science officer Spock, ship Dr. "Bones" McCoy, Ensign Pavel Chekov, communications officer Lt. Nyota Uhura, helmsman Lt. Hikaru Sulu and chief engineer Lt. Cmdr. Montgomery "Scotty" Scott -- confront strange alien races, friendly and hostile alike, as they explore unknown worlds. (Wikipedia)

This is not a substitute for the original material. In Canada, you can enjoy the tv show on Netflix.

Always loved the "McCoy/Spock back & forth" that started with Bones asking Kirk not to tell Spock about him thinking he was the best first officer in the fleet. It really gave the fans a total feeling of the respect/friendship the two of them had for each other.

Thanks for your continuing reactions to this legendary series! I really appreciate it! :D

A FUN FACT: Jim's older brother, Sam, was portrayed by William Shatner with gray hair and a mustache. Wonderful reaction today! Eagerly looking forward to more reactions in the future!
  • Another great episode, and great reaction Alexxa! It's lunch time, and that ending put me in the mood for a fried egg sandwich! Ha ha!
  • 5:38 Mark! You'll want to remember this moment when you see the 2009 "Star Trek" movie during the "Chevrolet Corvette" scenes! ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • 2:46 Mark! Oh yeah! When that Organian said "350 degrees" or whatever it was, and now with Spock saying a temperature reading, both times no one specified whether or not it was, Degrees Kelvin, Celsius, Fahrenheit or other, and it was understood and accepted here in the USA that obviously it was Fahrenheit! ๐Ÿ˜
  • 8:27 Mark! Ah, her! I relatively recently learned that she was a model they got for this one episode role! Back then models were healthier looking and beauty was a consequence and that helped sell the concept of people being healthier in the 23rd Century! But there are some male character actors that make me wonder about that premise. Like tgat chief miner! ๐Ÿ˜
  • 4:26 Mark! FYI, that's definitely not Mayberry! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜… It, like the "Planet of the Apes" movies and others, took advantage of the newest neighborhoods with the most modern architecture to pass them off as "futuristic" and it worked too, not only because we were sp used to Westerns and contemporary settings, but because you could step outside in most places and not see anything new for miles! You had to live in those places to think of them as an "everyday sight" if you could become so jaded so quickly!

Great reaction, as always! Really enjoy you're doing these!

Poor Sam Kirk; he's such a joy on SNW. I'll probably miss him more than Jim Kirk does.
  • 25:19 Mark! 1,374 Views + Mine! ๐ŸŽ‰ Thumb Up #158! ๐Ÿ‘ You're welcome, and thanks! ๐Ÿ˜Š Notes: Once Gary Mitchell was lost as the Chief Navigator, Kirk went through, from our perspective "weekly" and who know how many from his perspective, navigators until Pavel Chekov came along. But, once his Yeoman Janice Rand was gone, he never did find a replacement for her, as he had a new one in every episode! In the movies, that position was apparently ignored or not mentioned aloud anyway. I think it all inspired the writers of "Murphy Brown" who gave her a new episode in every secretary once she fired her first secretary or she quit? Died? Wait! A new secretary in every episode! ๐Ÿ˜ Murphy may have even noticed it and referenced Kirk's yeoman plight as being like her secretary plight as they have the same job description! ๐Ÿ˜… I think that it has always been a girl yeoman that had Kirk sign her PADD. But Brown may have had a man or two. ๐Ÿค” I think it was done to trick "CBS" by making it seem like MB was tricking her bosses into "slipping a gay guy under their noses" or something like that. ๐Ÿค” William Shatner and Candace Bergen co-star in one of the "Miss Congeniality" movies and in "Boston Legal"! ๐ŸŽ‰ The character description of "Lieutenant Hawk" claims that the character is the "first openly homosexual male character" in all of "Star Trek"! News that surprised the actor who was unaware of any aspect of that until after the fact when his brother called him to tease him about it after his brother has read about it. That's how he explained it to the ladies of "The View" and/or "The Talk"! You'll meet Whoopi Goldberg's "Guinan" when you eventually see "Star Trek: The Next Generation"! Bye fo
  • 8:44 I once saw a blooper from this episode that had this alien wapping Spock on the rear instead of hitting his back.
  • 18:40 Mark! Aha! These satellites are newly added courtesy of the DRP that "CBS" gave it! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  • @MI-hz1cp
Alexxa your just fantastic......and thank you for watching one of my recommendations "Mirror Mirror"...... Looking forward to seeing more......If I could pick a crew for the Enterprise, you, me, and Spock would be part of it.....๐Ÿ˜Š

In my opinion, the actress who plays Aurelan is the best screamer in Star Trek.
  • @Serai3
It's funny how many episodes end with "Spock is weird, ahaha!"
  • Howdy! ๐Ÿค  There's a blooper from this episode of Spock's butt, not his back, being attacked, and Leonard Nimoy breaks character to turn around and react! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜… The "myster rectangle"? I thought of it as a "patch" to replace the area where the model stand penetrated the hull, as the three ship kit has the stands do that to their model ships.
