    I believe that the circumflex over a vowel indicates that this vowel is pronounced somewhat longer than the same vowel is without a circumflex.
  • H is silent, the same as French. J is same as "j' in German (ja, Johann etc.). CH (k) GH (g) & GN (ny) are the same as Italian. There is no letters K, W & Y, these are only used in foreign names.
