As an aromantic person this song hits me so hard because “nothing in the world belongs to me” romantically, “but my love is mine all mine”, in the ways that it presents itself. I love so much in so many ways, but just not romantically, and that’s mine, that’s what makes me me.

The fact that this song has a whole other meaning is just so amazing, basically this song talks about the journey of learning to accept yourself and how far you’ve come and in the music video Mitski uses chairs and as she climbs them it shows how sometimes the journey may be hard but once you reach to the top it will all be worth it ❤️

my mother passed away around a month ago (august 20th). I had forgotten Mitski had a new album coming out. This is the second time I’ve fully listened to this song, and I can’t stop crying. She would’ve loved this song so much. She put others before herself, and always poured her heart out into everything she did. She was the embodiment of an angel, or even the sun. She touched the hearts of so many, including mine. She was my best friend, and the person who guided me through everything, even if we didn’t see eye to eye on things, I love her so much, and I’ll never stop. ever. I miss you so much, and I’m so sorry for everything. You deserved more than the universe could even comprehend. You goddamn amazing woman.

to me, this song means you can't take away the love that only I could give both to myself and others, and not just romantically. Literally anything can go away but love and loving is a choice we make. "My love is mine all mine" you can take everything, but I have an unlimited supply of love. Sometimes love can seem to be replaced by other emotions but it's only temporary. Love conquers because we can never run out of it. Like Diamonds. It seems to be scarce but never actually is. We all put a front sometimes, but deep down we're overflowing with love. And that's why it is never truly replaced or removed, it is always renewed.
