Park Fire Day 2: More Structures Are Lost as Fire Explodes in Chico

The south side of the fire made a heavy impact on highway 32 and claimed multiple structures as the fire tore out of Big Chico Creek Canyon.
Dozens of engine poured into the area to try and protect the neighborhoods and were successful at many homes but homes were still lost to the fire.
The main fire activity is not on highway 32 but remains up cohasset rd to the east as a massive pyrocumulous smoke column dominates the fires behavior.
The current size of the fire is mapped at 125 thousand acres.

  • Good video coverage. Much better than the mainstream media which shows little 2-minute clips with some newscaster making stupid comments. If we keep having fire seasons like this we're not going to have any Forest lands left 😫

    Not enough resources... a lot of shovels to throw dirt around but no water trucks.
  • I think there's a good chance this is Payne's Creek, on highway 36. Hopefully not where my friends are in Mineral. That said, wind is pushing up the highway.
