World's Only Giant Panda Triplets Celebrate Their First Birthday

The trio, named Meng Meng, Shuai Shuai and Ku Ku, have grown from small cubs weighing some 100 grams to plump creatures scaling over 30 kilograms with average body lengths of one meter. Their habits have undergone changes as well.
"Now that they are one year old, the triplets display much more vitality and are more independent. They no longer stick together, but have acts of their own instead. They exercise a great deal more than before, running up and down a lot, and are naughty sometimes," said Dong Guixin, general manager of the Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park.
Apart from obvious change in their habits, the trio have also experienced physical transformations. A new round of teeth-restoration has marked an increase in bamboo shoots and leaves as major food sources, leading to the phase-out of breast milk. Once equipped with sharper teeth, the trio will be able to grind some tender bamboo.
While great changes are taking place, the cute pandas need critical attention from their keepers.
"During their weaning period, the trio cannot control their appetite properly. For instance, they might eat too much and have digestion problems that would cause a lot of troubles. On the other hand, they now like to climb up high and jump so much, but their body coordination, which is not fully developed yet, may also cause accidents," said Dong.
Pandas are known for having very low survival rates. The triplets are extremely rare, of which only four cases have been recorded. The triplets in Guangzhou are the only living ones so far.

So well fed and plump! Other countries don't feed them adequately and cause their pandas to be skinny. I think China has delicious bamboo shoots and nutritious panda cake, and better tasting bamboo. And the pandas are fed often in abundance.
