Long requested, I cover the topic of the best of the worst of the ancient heresies and how the same spirit behind them has manifested today under different names and guises. From Arianism to gnosticism to Origenism, we see how the realm of the demonic lacks any creativity. With evil, we get the same dialectical traps we always, have, as Hellenism and its atheism are rehashed in ways you don't expect.

Transhumanism is the biggest of modern copes. Technology barely works and needs maintenance constantly. Think about the dudes uploading themselves into computers and during the progress they get an: "error upload failed".

You're single-handedly the reason I want to become Orthodox. The way you approach theology and explaining it is so reasonable and resonates heavily with the truth-seeking protestants who see your content (especially that stream with Sam Shamoun - it was pure gold)

Well Jay, I put my hand on the screen and said the prayer but now my gout has become a super goiter. Thanks a lot
  • I'm a Cristian and am so embarrassed by these televangelists that exchange healings for $$$$. I just can't seem to convince other Christians to see them that way.
  • This is good stuff. Thanks for getting into the deeper details and nuances of this topic. We all need to know more about this. Your humor here is also much appreciated. A blended balance of humor and profundity is what we need more of these days - esp w/ so many ppl. are still trying to wake from their cog diss. Keep up the great work! :)

Man, this is too heavy for me. Don’t lay your trip on me and my buddy Jesus.

Is there a book on a list of heresies? I had no idea how many of these I was guilty of through ignorance. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

I’m making my way through Pelikan and I was amazed at the similarities of Montanism to modern day Charismaticism. Also the fact that most evangelicals are closer to the beliefs of Marcion than they are to the early church doctrines.

Such a great synopsis of the heresies, Jay; so very grateful for you!
  • @illestdish
Very excited for the course on heresies! I'm just about to dive into Iranaeus on against heresies. Sounds like a real good dood man.

Please do a one-stop shop video on Calvinism. You dive deeper into it here and you just peak interest even more.
  • It is strange. I could never imagine that I would consider to become Orthodox. Until recently I have never seen or heard of an Orthodox Church or community in Sweden. A few catholic. I did live in Countries that were Orthodox Greece and Cyprus for 10 years. My husband was not religious, we married civil but our sons were baptized Orthodox. And I had forgot about it, but when I lived in Athens I became sick. My husband had a friend who.had become a very devoted Orthodox after some miracle as he saw it with his father I think. He actually went to mount Athos(?) I think the name is, and met with a Priest, I am sure I have seen him here on YouTube, Fathet Paitos (?) or something similar. Or if it was another holy man.I do.have a photo of Father Paitos, this friend gave me, until today. He gave him some oil, and I was anointed with it. And I can see a miracle, even if one can never know. They did not know if it was something dangerous, and I had to make surgery. The first real miracle was that I had a doctor who was fluent in Swedish. You don't find many who are that in Athens. And it was before I had learned enough Greek and the nurses spoke very little english. It made me feel scared and lonely. Until a doctor who spooked my language showed up. The surgery went well and it wasn't anything dangerous. A miracle according to the laws of physics. Because as Jesus said, we wouldn't believe (more) if the miracles and signs were in front of our eyes. I think God most of the time works miracle that way. But I do not deny that my head are spinning. I have listen to the teaching for hour s now, and it all make such sense. But still it is so foreign to me and I have an ongoing debate with 30 versions of myself inside my head. It is as if the cosmic battle is taking place inside of me. But thank You. What a pleasant memory that showed up as I listen (not that I was sick), but what, Leo, the friend of my husband, did for me. And this wise old Priest, he gave him holy oil for me. I think he even told me he prayed for me. When I feel like that about what an ordinary young man did for me, and then, what this holy old man did for me, how much grateful shouldn't I then be for what Jesus, God himself, did for all humanity.

Excellent stuff Jay! I love the new red and white name brand that is constantly on the screen.. great font and color selection.. Love the funny monologue in front of the video and love the intermittent parodies! I’m still laughing at the stoner parody of “I just said a prayer and God did it all Bro”.. I’ll probably be laughing at that one throughout the whole day..
