Released in 1931, it's technically a Betty Boop cartoon (Betty shows up at the end, with the dog ears she sometimes sported in her early appearances). "Bimbo's Initiation" was voted #37 on "The 50 Greatest Cartoons of All Time" in 1994.

Amazingly brilliant. 1931, no computers, hand drawn and very imaginative. I love it.

Betty Boop used to be a French Poodle when they first introduce her. Then in 1932 she became a human.
-
that was a rather fascinating short

5:45 Witness the Invention of 'twerking'. Bimbo Boop ftw

Try watching this at nigth time in the dark.. with headphones and no one else in the room

Cracked's right, that was pretty dark, but by far the most horrifying out of all that was that skeleton's pun.

This is the most fucked up shit I've ever seen.

Do you guys see the occult implications here?!

I didn't know horror movies were animated at the time!

As weird as this cartoon is, it's beautifully animated This is a pure work of art 👌👌

I love 'Bimbo's Initiation'. It's got every gag in the book and a swell soundtrack to boot.

frat houses in a nutshell XD

I love Bimbo, he's so funny. This one was really great!

I've been studying this style of animation and I'm going to use it to develop my own art style based on 1930s animation. I hope to start an art business with it!

So awesomely wierd! I love the perspective effects. Even better, I love how the song over the opening credits suggest a jolly romp where Bimbo and his Frat brothers have a party - then mere seconds in we get creepy little Morlocks, sharp scary things, and dog-eared Betty Boop. The Fleishers might have had some issues they needed to work out here. Poor Bimbo!

This cartoon was actually the first time I ever heard the Tiger Rag, starts at 4:22 and builds up to a pretty hot finish. A lot of these old cartoons had really great jazz orchestras on the soundtracks.

Bimbo's voice is my favorite part "Oh she- come on oh-"...like I literally can't

What a great cartoon. Surreal, nicely animation, and just plain fun! Wish they kept Bimbo. Thanks a lot 1934 Production Code! 3:(

Brrr..... I got the chills. Well, at least a modern day live action version of this would be one heck of a horror film. Getting tired of just hearing titles like Saw or Final Destination.
