We sat down with Paul Mescal and his AFTERSUN co-star Frankie Corio to play a game of Snack Wars, where they were comparing British and Irish snacks.

Paul introduced Frankie to some Irish snacks, including a Tayto sandwich and Ballymaloe Relish, and both weren't fans of an iconic British spread!

AFTERSUN is in cinemas from Friday 18th November.

  • Him wiping the crumbs off her pants was such a dad move lol and also them drinking after each other like no big deal. They’re adorable 🥹
  • paul making frankie’s food for her, wiping crumbs off her pants, opening stuff for her without a second thought, also “eat it over the plate”….he’s such a dad omg
  • @heimdal8
She coming in with that hyperactive, teenybopper energy and he giving of that chill dad vibe, trying to calm her down and educate her is really cute to watch.

It's like watching the extended version of Aftersun hahaha
  • Paul really came for LadBible's neck lmaooo top notch Irish behaviour

I genuinely believe Aftersun would not have been as strong of a film if these two had not spent a few weeks prior to filming just getting to know one another. It evokes a natural chemistry that can only come from real, unscripted experiences, and it helped bolster the relationship between these two that we see throughout the film. They’re acting during the film, obviously, but it comes across as so effortlessly natural because that bond has already been established beforehand. It was an incredibly smart decision on Charlotte Wells’ part.
  • The fact that they ate from each other's utensils, drank from each other's cans, all while being helpful towards each other is the best father daughter bond created by non related actors ever! There chemistry is through the roof and I love it! 😭 So wholesome!!

Their chemistry is everything. They were so good in the film!

ok this whole video is so adorable but when Paul brushed away the crumbs on Frankie's pants it was too much to take 2:58

Congrats to Paul on his first Oscar nomination. Frankie is so adorable. I love Aftersun so much.
  • Paul is absolutely correct - haggis out of a can is ... not something one would choose to eat. Proper haggis is, however, delicious - when it's hot. Same for stew. Very cut-price affair, this!

PLEASE they're such precious lil beans 🥺😭💖
  • Aww the girl is so smiley and cute , love how Paul's taking care of her

Man, watching this interview, it's no wonder they both broke my heart in Aftersun. Their ease with one another is obvious. Even here they have so much father-daughter energy, with him brushing crumbs off her pants and Frankie being giggly and hyper and daring him to eat the gross food. It's no wonder they were both so natural in the movie, and that's what made it so sad in the end. Another commenter mentioned this but watching this interview is a good palate cleanser after the movie. Paul absolutely deserves his oscar nom, and Frankie completely blew me away as well. I hope she has a long career. Also, good lord the UK has horrible snacks. 😭
