Another interesting thing about the Baroque mentality (or maybe the later Baroque, according to the Britannica article I'm reading lol) is the concept of affectations or Affektenlehre , where people started thinking that music was able to elicit specific emotions from the listener. Those 17th century folks were trippin' 😵🥴 Great episode homie! Excited to catch up on the rest and listen to your classical recommendations. Shostakovich's 6th was fun to play (at least for me, on timpani) and I had a chance to catch a performance of Shosty's 2nd Piano Concerto recently. Goooooood Lord, it shreds!
