In her seven-decade career, Dame Judi Dench has played nearly every female character in William Shakespeare's plays, from Juliet to Cleopatra. Dench and her late husband even used to refer to Shakespeare as "the man who pays the rent." That's also the title of her new book, written with her friend Brendan O'Hea. First on "CBS Mornings", she shares stories from a lifetime of iconic Shakespearean roles and much more with Anthony Mason.

Each weekday morning, "CBS Mornings" co-hosts Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson bring you the latest breaking news, smart conversation and in-depth feature reporting. "CBS Mornings" airs weekdays at 7 a.m. on CBS and stream it at 8 a.m. ET on the CBS News app.

I think it's wonderful that she decided to go for the tattoo. 😊 And how he said it was her "first" one. I love listening to her; she's so interesting & fun!

Oh my goodness! Madame was gorgeous in Goldeneye. I researched it and she was 60 years old. I don’t know her full career but she appears stunningly beautiful in this Goldeneye clip. Wow.

I know this Lady from As Time Goes By. Her & Jeffrey Palmer and cast were so great together. Probably I am the only person never to have seen a Bond movie. Recently heard she was M. Loved all her other roles in the movies!
  • It would be difficult for Judi Dench to revisit her role as "M", because (spolier alert!) "M" was killed at the end of Skyfall. Maybe they could do a movie in flashback? It seems weird that no one from the CBS Morning crew realized this - LOL! I would love to hear Judi Dench read her new book on Audible, but sadly, with her failing eyesight, I guess that was not possible.

She looks a bit like Audrey Hepburn when young.
  • Judi can’t came back, her character as M was killed off in Skyfall!!!!
