I’m pretty sure based on the Outlast 2 comics that the “sun” Blake sees in the ending sequence is just the Temple Gate morphogenic tower exploding due to the Walrider. It’s the most reasonable and evidence laden theory.

Synesthesia is what you're referring to when someone experiences senses being rerouted through irregular channels. (Kind of like when Fry says, "Did everything taste like purple for a second" in an episode of Futurama.)
