Imagine calling a suicide hotline and they put you on the waiting list with this song on the phone.
  • Stage 4 terminal prostate cancer here, just got the word today that all they can really do at this point is “make me comfortable “. Immediately went to this song. Reminds me of the time my sister was bitten by a moose… Cheers, everyone!
  • My wife just passed away from a lifelong battle with a complicated genetic disease (she was only 29). In accordance with her wishes, I played this at her celebration of life. She certainly got the last laugh, as it made us all bawl and laugh at the same time.

When I was at High School, a lad was give detention after the mock O level exam in Religous Education, because he answered the question what were Christ's last words on the cross, with, "Always look on the bright side of life..."
  • Fun fact: during the Falklands War, the surviving crews of HMS Sheffield and HMS Coventry sang this song while waiting for rescue after their ships had been sunk by the Argies.

Such a beautiful ending. Arguably the best ending to any movie.

RIP Terry Jones. Always look on the bright side of life.

Truly the greatest piece of British humour 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
  • I suffer severe PTSD. I always listen to this song. From Australia 🇦🇺
  • My dog died last year. My Grandmother soon after had brain cancer. Then, a couple days ago, one of my best friends caught phenomena. Today, my Grandma and my friend passed away. At this point, I can’t even cry, because I can’t fully process that they’re gone. I feel like I can’t experience much more than grief sometimes, as it’s just hard to mentally process. However, whenever something like this happens, I find myself back here. Thank you, Eric Idle, for telling me to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life.
  • I want this played at my funeral. Anybody doesn't whistle along, I'll never speak to them again.

I don’t ever talk about this, but since it’s the internet; this song has seriously gotten me through so many dark and depressing days through the years. So simple, yet never fails to make me grin (also it says cheer up Brian, and that’s my name so)

This was my Dads funeral song 10 years ago. It was played in a pub yesterday and I smiled through the whole song💗
