I would also recommend joining Killer flicks on Facebook where we talk horror every day and have themes of the week every week ran by yours truly. Just make sure you answer the 3 questions or you will not be approved. We try to keep it as fun as possible for everyone and the mods are really good at making sure everyone plays (fairly) nice. Hope to see you there.

  • I can't wait for the sequel the man who killed Fidel Castro and then the Loch Ness Monster!
  • @jamesbell7809
I actually thoroughly enjoyed this movie, I was pretty relieved to find out it wasn't a grind house flick when I started getting into it.
  • No expectations, no trailers watched... just loved 😁 I was totally invested in their romance 😂

This was more like a character study, of Sam Elliott's weary, old man ( yet bad ass, watch as he quickly disables the three thugs trying to steal his car at the beginning ) character, who had lived such an absurdly adventurous life, having killed not only Hitler, but also * the * Bigfoot, but what what goes through his mind the most is his lost love, from decades earlier. The Bigfoot and Hitler are only secondary characters in his life, compared to the girl. It would be like if John Rambo still thought about some high school sweetheart of his. While the film is not entirely successful, ( quite frankly, I was depressed by some of it ) I still think it worked well enough that I've told several co-workers about it, after seeing it in the cinema this past weekend, and I'm enjoying watching others reviews of it, even if I don't agree with what they have to say about it. Maybe one needs to be in the right frame of mind, and look at it from a certain perspective, to enjoy its batsh*t insanity?
  • The reason he was asked to go kill bigfoot is because he was immune to the strain of plague that the bigfoot was carrying and spreading to literally every species it came in contact with. His history with the OSS during WWII leads directly into the bigfoot story. The movie was chopped up in the editing room, but it's not a terrible movie.

just my humble opinion... The scenes of Calvin sharing hot cocoa and talking with his brother, and where Maxine wakes Calvin up to walk, sharing Jimmy's journal story with him are instrumental to insight of what the movie is about. I think the movie examines what it means to be, act as, and be seen as, and feel like a 'hero'. Though he kills twice, under the belief(in both cases) that he is doing so for the good of humanity, at his core he rejects killing, and especially being seen as heroic for having done so. Knowing he would be going away on mission, he struggled with presenting the engagement ring to Maxine. The struggle was between his desire to enjoy the bliss that comes with tangibly(putting a ring on her finger) tightening his bond with her, and knowing how sorrowful she already will be in his absence....a ring on her finger only deepening her sorrow and anxiety while he is away, not knowing if he will return. In that way, he believes he is potentially sparing her grief in the future, by not proposing to her just before he leaves....of course, not knowing that she would tragically pass away before he returns The way he moves his uniform to the back of the closet, puts his metal in the jar of buttons, puts the letters from Maxine in the garbage, and takes the painting(looks like mountain on which he ended bigfoot) off of the wall, demonstrate him removing(from sight) things that are celebratory of his actions(ending Hilter, romancing Maxine, and ending bigfoot). I think he is bothered perpetually(demonstrated by him pulling the box out several times, nearly opening it, but putting it back), with some form of regret stemming from having not shared with Maxine how much he loved her by giving her the ring before he left. I think the engagement ring is what is in the mysterious brown box, and he goes to retrieve it because, just like the little dinosaur toy from his brother, he has resolved and come to peace with decidedly holding on to it(celebrating what it represents). I think that in the end, him successfully, finally being able to find and discard what had been in his shoe causing him discomfort throughout the movie(note the many times he shook his foot because of it) is analogous of him shedding that internal struggle he had for all those years.

The movie was about how he ruined his life doing things he didn't want to do. He wasn't a killer, he sacrificed his future with the woman he loved. The film was a pretty deep tragedy. Like he says in the movie, " I just killed a man", he became a murderer for no reason, it didn't stop the war, he regretted his life choices and actually had a conscience.

Thank you for making this review! I rarely ever intend to actually watch a movie that comes out (you know, something I can wait to watch even if its a few years later - get it cheap etc), but I thought I would give this movie a chance... thankfully you did a review first! Btw the trailer is basically a tease, making you thing it might be something epic and leaving out the fact that its well, exactly what you said it was. So, again, thank you!
  • @paullaymon5133
I think the story was about some one with dementia. He did not kill hitler. He joined the war, left his girlfriend, came back and she was dead. When he was getting a haircut he was loosing track of time by seeing the clock move backwards. The picture on the wall was the same scene he was “supposedly” fighting big foot. He was a sad old man dying with the regret of lost love and living a life of unimportance.
  • @darkashtar
Fun grindhouse film was my thought. I'm gonna watch it based on your review, so let me know if it's fun or just super bizarre. Sounds like it's a bummer, maybe a watch when high. Thank you sir for saving my time.
  • @chis332
This was a janky jank movie. the bigfoot scene was dope and broke his little pinky.
  • @SonOfAnarchy91
Damn I was expecting the same thing you were. Guess I'll at least have tempered expectations for this now.
  • @purplegh0st311
This movie was spot on. Saw it last night and loved every second.
  • @posznicholson
I was totally looking forward to this movie, i thought it would be fun but it seems i mitve misjudged the kind of movie this is from your review.
  • @jmcclain8237
Isn't subverting expectations better than the alternative?
  • @DRG342
it is going to be an intriguing film with more than meets the mere eye.
  • @Toddsnightmare
Well I'm let down....So do you think since it's a drama romance I can recommend this to my mom since she loves Sam Elliot lol
  • @Shane661
Well, I get that you think the "story" is very bizarre and unrealistic. But, when I was watching it, I kept thinking that all of it wasn't reality...some of it was taking place in Elliot's head. Someone has mentioned that his character mentions that he "stopped taking his medicine", before the Bigfoot sequence. I have to watch it again...but thinking of the story in a less literal sense could change one's perception of the "story". Any thoughts on that angle?
