How Beckham, King and Speed All Led by Example: Jermaine Jenas Reveals All

Published 2024-03-05
On Today’s episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast, Crouchy, Chris and Sids are joined by Newcastle and Tottenham alumni Jermaine Jenas!

Jermaine, whose career saw him rub shoulders with some of the biggest legends In the game including Becks, Gary Speed, and friend of the podcast Ledley King.

Jenas opens up on the affect that playing with such leaders of their craft had on his motivation as a person both on and off the pitch.

The lads also delve into the psychological impact that being made a team captain at just 17 years of age had upon him and how Sir Bobby Robson once used the analogy of a BBQ to keep him on the straight and narrow…cue Chris’ elevator pitch!

Jenas also discusses his transition from player to pundit and his new venture into the world of E sports through heading up TNT’s coverage of formula E.

There is certainly a lot to unbox on this episode, and were not just talking about the fancy trainers!

  • I remember going to the city ground back in September 2001 to watch Nottingham forest v Bradford city. A friend of mine who was, and still is to this day, a Bradford city season ticket holder had a spare ticket, so why not. Really good game actually, cracking atmosphere and the winner was scored by a young upcoming jermaine jenas.

Interesting to hear JJ's thoughts on the frustration of the analysis from the pundits. It feels like it's something that's getting poorer and poorer each year, and mad to hear that the pundits are frustrated by it and are taking the easy option. Easy to criticise from the outside looking in.

Peter Cowch should be the Cows name.
  • @QueerChica
Beef in Brazil is massive because there is a barbeque culture. There are people who eat it every day. Brazilian friends of mine talk being BBQCs very seriously x

I was living up in Newcastle when Bobby signed Jermain, and everyone I knew who saw him out on the Quayside said Jermain was the soundest lad you could ever meet.

One of my favourite episodes. I'm a huge JJ admirer, I think he's great at the presenting, said years ago that he should be Linekers replacement however the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if MOTD got axed soon.
