I wish Who Do You Think You Are would do this for regular people who truly can't afford to pay to find their past. What a beautiful show that would be.
  • Kelly enthusiastically hugging and thanking all the researchers is so pure. She’s a light 💛

Kelly's ancestor was awesome serving in the military during time of an important time in history. Escape a desolate situation, wounded, came back to serve as a sheriff and state senate. Remarkable!

My grandfather lied about his age to join in WW2, he was actually too young. It's amazing these boys survived. What an intense life.
  • This was so amazing. My daughter found my ex husband 15 siblings he had through Ancestry. Unfortunately my daughter's Grandfather was a bit of a roamer. Funny thing is. The Grandfather was a tremendous country singer. Just about all of his children have beautiful voices including my own children. ❤ DNA runs deep.

It’s amazing Kelly saw a book that had a wonderful photo of the entire named family like that! That’s a truly rare thing.

I’m learning more about history in this video than from what I remembered being taught in school. This is so incredible to learn about and so so sad.

These are the stories that need to be remembered as people push for yet another civil war in our country.

How proud she should be. What a strong family! Thank you Gpa Rose and all the men for your service and sacrifices.

I love how Kelly hugs everybody!!! ❤
  • I knew there might be a few reasons why I was attracted to Kelly Clarkson one of the reason being Kelly Clarkson is ancestry to a service member of the Ohio Infantry in Civil War one of the few people responsible for some of my ancestors being freed from slavery.
  • I teared up watching Kelly tearing up 😢😢 She’s so strong 💪, it’s in her DNA 🙌
  • In working on my family history, one of the stories I have found that I can really empathize with is that of Julius Crispell. He was the brother of my 3rd great grandmother Nettie, only 12 or 13 when the Civil War began. In October 1864, at either nearly 16 or 17 (records differ), he enlisted in the army in New York and he was sent to the trenches outside of Petersburg, VA. I can imagine the sheer boredom of that post, especially by that point of the siege. He must have spent the first three years of the war hearing brave tales of daring-do from the newspaper and later from his father who was also in the army, only to be stuck waiting for something to happen. Then, just as the siege was on the verge of breaking, he got sick with typhoid fever and was in the hospital when the army began the chase from Petersburg to Appomattox Courthouse. Eight days after Lee surrendered, Julius died. Three years later, his big sister Nettie named her first-born child Julius, my 2nd great grandfather.

I just loved the way Kelly hugged all those who helped her. It's a southern thing.😘

I have a 4 times great grandfather that was at Andersonville too. He unfortunately died from sickness he contracted there, in a military hospital. He left behind a wife, son and baby daughter, who grew up to be my 3 times great grandmother.
  • I thoroughly enjoyed Kelly’s journey, her humility and humanity is evident. I loved her enthusiasm for knowledge and her gratitude (and hugs) for those who helped her navigate that journey. She has every right to be proud of her heritage and of her mother and herself. ❤❤
  • My Dad was a security guard at the Ohio Historical Society and I've sat in that room of the state house multiple times as I was getting my paralegal degree. This is so cool to watch.

Awesome, my ancestor was Union, and was a prison of War, sent to Andersonville, Ga. My ggg Uncle was injured in Plymouth, N.C., lost his hand when he was at Plymouth, N.C, and sent to Andersonville. His name was Dexter Keith.
